If you keep your house warm in the winter, a number of insects should be able to tolerate it just fine. 

Like many cold blooded creatures, the metabolism of insects would slow down as they get cold.  However, they may not tolerate freezing.

I allow my house to get a little chilly in the winter.  I'm not sure about flies, but I've had other insects that will seem to survive, just moving a little slower than normal.  Last year there was a moth that seemed to be alive, but stayed more or less directly above my computer where it would get some warmth.  I've got a couple of spiders that seem to be surviving quite cold temperatures.
