Title: Brain neuron axon growth
Post by: cheryl j on 23/08/2013 02:51:03
I've heard that learning and other changes in brain involves neurons creating new connections with other neurons. How fast does the axon of a brain neuron actually grow. How fast can a new connection take place? In an anatomy lecture I heard, a surgeon mentioned the rate of growth  for peripheral nervous system neurons when they have been damaged (I think it was a couple of millimeters a day), but I don't know if it would be the same in the brain.
