Title: Fast eaters VS Slow eaters
Post by: goofkid on 30/06/2007 08:16:49
I have this theory that i'd like to share...

Well i've noticed that

1. People that eat their food at a fast pace, are usually thin.
2. People that take alot of time to eat their food are healthier (or even fat).

Maybe its becuase people who eat fast don't chew their food properly ---> so their stomach has to do all the hard work....making the body tired...and resulting that person to be thin.

And people who take plenty of time, manage to chew their food properly ---> so that the stomach doesn't have to do as much grinding and does not get tired - making person healthier.

What do you guys think? Is that ridiculous or what?

Well Number one chewing thoruoghly is just a really good safety issue. Then you have politeness , but I think that properly chewed foods must be easily more digestible too! I do't know the real fcts, but there must be evidence to that somewhere.

Then of course by taking your time, you are also giving your head enough time to register that it has been fed and needs no more food . If one eats so fast they cannot give their brain time to say stop eating, then one tends to over eat.. eating fast tends to lead to eating to much as you keep eating because your brain thinks it has not had enough food yet. slow eating aides in that ability for the brain to say WOW i am full.. LOL I know this works as I have done it.. It has been part of my plan in my weight loss. Try to eat much slower take my time.. socialize and enjoy my meal... Makes a big difference in the proportions you eat being satisfying!

I agree with Karen in general terms.  I am a fast eater, and it has done nothing to constrain my weight.  Quite the contrary.

I agree with Karen that a substantial part of it is psychological because I find that having time to prepare my own food also contributes to the digestive process (i.e. the anticipation of food is as important as the eating of it).  When I am constantly snatching food on the run it does nothing to keep my weight down.

I really agree with you about eating on the run!
