Has anyone ever taken high dose NIACINAMIDE?! Not Niacin, and upwards of 500mg at a time. I am not trying to promote products but I am urging all to consider niacinamide in mega doses.
http://www.orthomolecular.org/library/jom/2004/pdf/2004-v19n02-p104.pdf
I have always taken niacin with strong results as long as I was post flush, and still experienced extreme back tension and severe PE while using niacin to manage constant POIS, but I recently switched to NIACINAMIDE about 2.5grams a day, and something very different is occurring! I need to know whether anyone else has supplemented with it, in high doses, and experienced any benefits.
The two forms have different mechanisms of action!
This may just be sub-clinical Pellagra!

And for those who are not familiar with NADPH and NADP they are coenzymes of Niacin. http://www.google.com/imgres?um=1&hl=en&safe=off&biw=1024&bih=677&tbm=isch&tbnid=ihsFRpUqSUxSOM:&imgrefurl=http://www.autismpedia.org/wiki/index.php%3Ftitle%3DMethylationHypothesis&docid=A_qJs03Xrn1o4M&imgurl=http://www.autismpedia.org/wiki/images/d/da/Methylation-cycle.jpg&w=800&h=566&ei=JptET4bZOOH30gHY49z9Aw&zoom=1&iact=rc&dur=395&sig=101030000970512797821&page=1&tbnh=135&tbnw=191&start=0&ndsp=16&ved=0CFUQrQMwAw&tx=91&ty=94

I strongly suggest that anyone who gains some control over the condition with niacin, like myself and many others, invests time into researching Vitamin B-2 (Riboflavin). End Game. Riboflavin converts B6 into P5P, the active form. It facilitates conversion of niacin from tryptophan, and the folate cycle requires riboflavin. The creation of vital brain neurotransmitters rely on a healthy supply of bio-available active forms of vitamins naturally converted by the body. http://lpi.oregonstate.edu/infocenter/vitamins/fa/fadiag1.html

Demo...this might be a crazy suggestion, but we have a massive sample and given the right survey and data collection techniques, we may be able to do some internal research. Sifting through some co relational data generated from surveys could be beneficial to future research. Has there ever been talk about putting a team together within the forum. Are there any PhD sufferers?

I have been taking Niacin for over a year now and have been benefiting greatly from it. I have extended into the higher doses above three grams per day. If anyone is interested I would suggest looking into a disorder called B3 dependency. I will be attaching some quality articles I have found about the potential for Niacin to be used in clinical settings to treat anxiety.

Daveman maybe they are among millions of Americans who jump between the benzodiazepines and SSRI's that their GP has prescribed to them. People who do not know why they feel the way they do, and have not considered researching on their own.

Just a status update just did a little experiment. After following my diet strictly for the past week. A diet of only meat, raw vegetables, rice, and potatoes. No pois after orgasm. zero 0%. If you haven't heard me yet, find out if you have sensitivities, even if you think you don't, if you asked me six months ago I would have told you I am not allergic to anything. If pois was caused by sexual activity, every man in the world would have it. It would be more popular. No, we are the individuals that have underlying immune or adrenal stress, and it is exacerbated by sexual activity. If anyone lives in the San Diego area send me a message.

I suggest that you really evaluate your diet and how your digestive system feels. I have always had an average amount of gas but I wouldnt have image it being linked to pois. Your intestines are responsible for the uptake of all vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and water. Any damage being done to them has significant impacts on the kidneys and the liver. Remember adrenal glands are on the kidneys, and the liver is responsible for synthesizing neurotransmitters. If anyone is interested I suggest you research food and envirnomental sensitivities, leaky gut syndrome, and adrenal fatigue.

John 21 an elimination diet is a slightly effective inexpensive means to iddentify an allergy. But with how foods are manufactured today it is difficult to isolate specific allergens, and one could also be sensitive to multiple allergins like in my case. There is several tests that can be taken to iddentify food and environmental sensitivities. A very basic way is to find an allergist or gp who will give you a blood antibody test to see if your body is iddentifying certain foods as pathogens.

Hello everyone, It have not posted in a while but I have been checking in on the blog. I have been a self diagnosed Pois sufferer for ten years and until the last year I was convinced the cause of my pois was from excessiveness in my youth. I thought that I was really messed up, because my pois would last for months even though I was abstaining. After some thought I realized that there must be something else in my life that was causing this problem, and my pois was just a reflection of an underlying issue. I started to look at food because that was one thing in my life that remained constant. Influenced by Edgar Cayce, I fasted around november time frame, around the time of my last post. I was trying to use it to clear all foods from my body, and isolate a possible food sensitivity. I did feel much better while fasting, but when I came off, it was much harder to pinpoint. I suspected cassein and gluten, eliminated them from my diet with no positive results. I recently sought out a Naturopathic Endocrinologist who speacializes in behavior in my area. I prefer this route because they choose to look at the whole body and nutrition instead of just medicating symptoms. I took a full circadian salivary hormone test both sex hormones and adrenals. As expected, the results of the tests showed that my testosterone levels were extremely low as were my dhea levels. I was prescibed a custom hormone cream to balance adrenal insufficiency and raise testosterone leves, and a complex of dietary enzymes. Within the first day using the enzymes I noticed a change in my digestive system and realized how bad it had been, previously unaware. It was suggested that I take the biofeedback exam, which measures the energy inside your body through resonance. This test confirmed by blood food antibody test showed that I am allergic to dairy, and egg whites. Which triggered an allergic reaction in my body, inflamed my small intestine, prevented the uptake of any vital nutrients, minerals or amino acids(neurotransmitter precussors), sent my body into an allergic response fight or flight scenario, and with the added stress of orgasm caused my Post orgasmic illness. This allergy was completly unknown to me which is common. I paired it with orgasm, and orgasm incorrectly became the cause. Humans did not evolve consuming the milk of other organisms. I feel 95% better in a very short amount of time with just the elimination of dairy and eggs. Twenty five years of poisoning will take time to heal, and hopefully I will reach new levels. I am in no way saying this is the cause of pois. It was for me. I will not mention the products I used because I don't want people running out and buying something that may not work for them. All I am saying is consider your nutrition, food sensitivities, environmental allergens, vaccine exposure, and heavy metals. Our symptoms are more suggestive of chronic fatigue and digestive problems, I also had prostate trouble which was relieved in days.

Going crazy. I still remember how it felt the first time I experienced Pois, and I completly agree with you. So some new experimentation for me. I am currently taking mucana puriens with rhodilia rosea, theanine with gaba supplements, and a magnesium, calcium, zinc supplement. The addition of mucana to my cocktail yielded positive results for me. Pois recovery time was shortened. Prostate problems are still present. If i don't e every so many days pain becomes worse. I am thinking about trying a saw palmetto tinture, to hopefully reduce symptoms.

Has anyone actually had their histamine and prolactin levels checked. Suppose this was a cassein allergy or celiac disease. These are both auto immune responses that increase prolactin. These problems exist for many Americans who remain undiagnosed. If one had either of these auto immune deficiencies their symptoms could be worse post orgasm.

Do not waste your money on any of the herbal love products. They were the first I found, that said anything about POIS. Dr. Lin's writing was so informative, and I assumed his products would cure me. I spent months on them with little or no change. There is probably no one out there that writes as much as he does about the subject. It is terrible that Herballove steals money from people who are just looking for relief. They could at least help the subject gain populartiy, and conduct significant research.

This may help us in our quest but i can rememeber the exact night everything changed for me. It was november of 1999, and I chose to "O"twice in a row. The second session was very painful, because i was sensitive but i continued anyway. After the second "O" it felt like something had seriously gone wrong. I was in a state of panic, and I felt trapped. Waves of sensation were flowing all over my body, and it continued all night long, i could not sleep. I felt as if i was floating on water. The state i lived in for the next day just felt wrong, and uncomfortable. On the second day I awoke feeling completly recovered. I stayed that way for an entire week. For some reason I did it again and even without an "o" my body went back into the same shock, and I have lived that way perpetually for ten years. I do however remember a similar feeling as a child when I had consumed nearly five cups of cofee. Cofee which contains caffiene, which plays on dopamine and prolactin. Currently I have disbanded my experiments with anihistamines, and methionine, having dwindling sucess. It seems that every time I have found something that may help, it helps for only a few days and stops. My last blood test showed extremely high blood sugar, so my focus is now on cortisol.

I am new to this forum, and term Pois. I am actually pretty excited that I found you guys because I didnt think there was anyone else out there. I have been a suferer for a decade now, and I striving to heal myself. I originally tried five years ago with a physician, urologist, and endocrineologist who offered nothing. I ended up settling for an SSRI prescription that only yield results for a couple of weeks. Now, I am back on the hunt and over the course of the last month I have tried nearly every amino acid precussor of the 4 main neurotransmitters. I do also suffer from PE, and it is my main focus. After undergoing hours of research, my main focus is now on lowering histamine levels. I was benefiting slowly from SAM-E, L-trytophan, and L-Tyrosine, and Gaba. Last week I decided to add Clarinex to my cocktail, which changed things for me dramatically. I have noticed since the addition my body is craving much more L-Tryptophan. My Pois Is 75 percent better on Sam-e and clarinex.
