Title: How is it possible to have two bars and be in "extended network"?
Post by: Simulated on 06/04/2008 21:10:10
Today I was up north from here, Toldeo area, and I looked at my cell phone and it said it had two bars and yet it still said extended nextwork. I always thought extended network was something you get when you didn't have any bars or hardly any coverage. So can someone please explain extended network to me please?

I have verizon

I think it means your phone has a extended coverage area that you are able to call from that area and have it covered on your service area.. I think???

I only know about UK cellphones but it's probably similar.  If you are out of range of a transmitter run by your network provider but in range of a signal from a different network provider our phones say "Emergency calls only" now there is no reason why you can't be in quite a strong signal area by the other network provider, it's just that there isn't any signal for your own network provider, so once the phone has realised this and switched to the emergency/extended coverage the signal could be quite good.
