Title: So much for emission controls!
Post by: DoctorBeaver on 07/11/2005 13:32:14
From the 5th Gear email I received this morning...

Bugatti Veyron 16.4

This car is VW's corporate ego trip, the ultimate in automotive technology. Don't ask if the world needs it, just be pleased it exists.

Three thing we like:

1) Performance
2) Performance
3) Performance.

Three thing were not mad on:

1) Costs more than a house in the Cotswolds
2) More expensive to run than an elephant with a cocaine habit
3) Slight risk of speeding fines.

Specs:
Price: £839,000
Engine: 7993 cc 64-valve W16, quad-turbo
1001 bhp at 6000 rpm, 922 lb/ft at 2200 rpm
0-62 mph 2.5 seconds, 252 mph top speed
11.7 mpg combined, 574g/km CO2
On sale in the UK: Now.

I've ordered one !...however, I suppose in the grand scheme of things it's not the kind of car that you'll see on the weekly shop or the school run....and I just can't imagine it being used for regular trips

My word !!..it's thing of beauty though isn't it ?

The funniest thing is that it's got 2 VW Passat engines bolted together! [:D]

In a straight drag between this thing & the McLaren F1 supercar, the Bugatti could let the F1 reach 100mph before it set off & STILL beat it to 200mph! Bloody hell... with acceleration like that, your face would be out the back of your head!

(I dare say 1 of the maths whizzos on here could tell me what how much G would be involved in getting 0-62mph in 2.5 secs)

WHAT ?...you are joking aren't you ?...well..if it has, then they've fed them steriods to the max....

I was always keen on the Mclaren F1 , then the Merc SLR Mclaren, seems I have to change favourites again...oh bother...why not have one of each ?[:D]

Are you serious about the VW Passat engines Eth ?
