The " Universal " part.
If a whole city agrees & accepts it, then it becomes a City moral standard.
Similarly...
State moral standard.
Country/Nation moral standard.
Continental moral standard.
Planetary moral standard.
Interplanetary, Galactic, Intergalactic, Clusterial, Interclusterial, Observable universe & then finally " Universal Moral Standard ".

You can expand the scope by space like that. You can also expand the scope by similarities.
Let's start by individual moral standards. For the sake of the argument, assume that it's the smallest unit of consciousness where morality can be applied.
It can be expanded to siblings moral standards. Then clan's, tribe, race, species, genus, phylum, base chemicals, and finally universal moral standard. However you divide them, they will converge if their scope is expanded enough.

I'm not sure if we can communicate with unicellular organisms about our common goals. But it's pretty clear that they have instincts to survive and reproduce, which can be reasonably thought as the products of evolutionary process.

More to the point, most of them regard us either as enemies or food. What moral right do we have to determine their goals, or to assume that they are the same as ours?

It comes from our expectation that we know better than them about how the universe works, and we can better predict and affect future conditions, which makes us better equipped to achieve the universal goal. It's like how parents treat their little children. When they have outgrown us, the situation would be reversed.

Your idea of ' Universalism " seems very broad, it includes Alot.

Approximately 8.7 million species.

It also includes species not yet existing, aliens, and AGI.

Just a small group on a forum, at times, is not able to reach on a consensus or agreement.

If an idea is truly universal, sooner or later someone will discover it.

Access to I/O interface with the real world is necessary to automate learning of AI models, so they can learn causality from their own experiences. Otherwise, they will be like brains in the vat.

Exporting an entire terrarium to Mars would be expensive and completely pointless, like going on a foreign holiday and never getting off the bus. All you have achieved is to add some diesel fumes (or in this case rocket exhaust) to someone else's planet..

The point is to have diversified backup to prevent common mode failures. Multiplanetary civilization is a necessary step if we want to achieve multistellar civilization. The other alternative is to go extinct with the destruction of the earth.

Good deeds do not require justification.

The mantra justifies feeling good while being too lazy to think throughout the consequences of the deeds.
There must be some reason to call them good in the first place, and distinguish them from the bad ones. Otherwise, everyone will do anything they like and call them good deeds. Inquisitors thought that they were doing good deeds. So did slave traders and Holocaust deniers.
The justification may only become obvious in a hindsight. Even AI models can improve their performance through self reflection.

I've seen the video. It's an FPS game with improved 3D environment and real time ray tracing. I've also seen a demo of unreal Engine that looks like real life. They will even get better in the futurefuture that we will find it hard to distinguish from reality.

This video changed my perspective of AI alignment. I see it now. It's not about commandments and techniques.. we can't align a super being; same way as aligning our kids. We need a more philosophical approach.

We need to teach them the concepts of universal terminal goal, universal moral standard, universal moral compass, and critical thinking before they get too powerful which would make their mistakes more costly and damaging to the civilization.

Technically, goals of AI models are maximizing their reward function. In other words, they make decisions based on what they expect to produce highest value of their reward function, which were set by their developers (at least initially).
Effectively, goals of AI models as seen from outsiders' perspective would look like a condition which would make their reward function reach maximum value, based on whatever inputs put into the models.

ChatGPT is a natural language processing tool driven by AI technology that allows you to have human-like conversations and much more with the chatbot. The language model can answer questions and assist you with tasks like composing emails, essays, and code.


The model has many functions in addition to answering simple questions. ChatGPT can compose essays, describe art in great detail, create AI art prompts, have philosophical conversations, and even code for you.

But the manually hard coded reward functions may not be really aligned to what were intended by their developers. Previous AI models had shown these cases, which made them shut down soon after they went on line.

The transformer architecture is a type of neural network that is used for processing natural language data. A neural network simulates the way a human brain works by processing information through layers of interconnected nodes. Think of a neural network like a hockey team: each player has a role, but they pass the puck back and forth among players with specific roles, all working together to score the goal.

The transformer architecture processes sequences of words by using "self-attention" to weigh the importance of different words in a sequence when making predictions. Self-attention is similar to the way a reader might look back at a previous sentence or paragraph for the context needed to understand a new word in a book. The transformer looks at all the words in a sequence to understand the context and the relationships between the words.

why is it called Generator?

Perhaps for marketing purpose. That's the title of the device if you buy it online.

Does it Generate, which i feel is similar to Create?

Or does it simply just Convert, hence a Converter/Transformer?

The circuit diagram shown at 6:50 shows that it consists of an oscillator, step up transformer, and voltage multiplier.
