How can I make a homemade water jet gun?
« on: 03/07/2020 13:51:50 »
Abubakar sent us this:

I want to make water jet gun at home. I have a 1hp peripheral water pump at my home - can I convert it in to water jet gun for washing by attaching a nozzle in front?

Can anyone help?

Hi Abubakar, i am new here, but since noone answers you i will try to help you!

So, it depends on how much pressure you want on the pipe.

First choose a noozle, what will you use?
then if the noozle is small you will get a high pressure on the ouput pipe, so you will have to install a high pressure pipe.
Ok we have our noozle and our pipe, now remember that when you put a high pressure pipe all that pressure is sent back to the water pump!
A good idea would be to put a unidirectional valve at the output of the pump, that should get you some pressure on the nozzle.

Good luck with your project!

Part one

Start by mining some iron ore  and coal, reduce the coal to coke by heating it in an oxygen controlled atmosphere. Mine some clay and form it into a small bloomery furnace. Then take the iron ore and coke andplace into the furnace and light a fire under the furnace, keep this going for a minimum of six hours adding more as you go, by which time within the furnace the iron  and coke should have reacted to produce iron. Repeat a similar process with copper ore.

Take your metals and work them to the shapes you need, primarily a containment vessel and some tubing, if you require this to be electrically powered you will also need the addition of a motor so some wire and permanent magnets will help, along with a carridge for windings.

You will almost certainly need rubber , or perhaps greased leather, so they do both in brazil.

Part two to follow

a 1hp peripheral water pump
It really needs much more detail about what you have, but also what you want.

There's a good scientific reason why water gets things so clean: its molecules have a slight electrical polarity (one end is positively charged and the other is negatively charged), so they tend to stick to things all by themselves.

I think the answer to the original question is "yes".  Use a garden hose with a multi-spray gun attachment. Most domestic pressure washers run at 2 - 3 HP which helps for cleaning algae from paving stones, but 1 HP will shift mud and road dirt without damaging vehicle paintwork.
