Title: How Much Water Does A Waterlogged Body Hold ?
Post by: neilep on 03/07/2009 20:37:28
Greets Peeps,

Happy Friday...Oh well, Murray is not through to Wimbledon's Final...that's the Scot's for ya eh ?  Still, they do make good porridge ! [;)]

Whilst asking this question (http://www.thenakedscientists.com/forum/index.php?topic=24042.0;topicseen) it got me thinking about how much water does the average body absorb when it's been all day absorbing it !

See these feet !

Some feet being wrinkled earlier today

Nice eh ?...being delivered as ' spares ' next Tuesday !

See how wrinkled they are ?

A few questions if I may ?

How much water does your average foot absorb ?.....hand absorb ?
Why is it mainly only noticebale on the hands and feet ?...do other parts of the body display waterlogged tendencies too ?...and how much water is actually absorbed  in the average person should they be immersed for lets say..a couple of hours ?

Is there a difference between the absorption rate of sea water, pool water and bath water ?

If ewe can answer all of these for me then I will send you a pressy (I'll need your credit card details and address !)**

Hugs & shmishes

Nice it looks like good weather today there.. whats the temp?

LOL..You should lie down on the floor and weigh just your ankle down to foot dry! Then you should soak said foot in water such as above until completely wrinkled then you should lie down again and weigh said same foot without squishing water out.. compare the difference if any in weight and Tah Da!

It's because the epidermis is thicker on your hands and foot than anywhere else so they are able to wrinkle.

Anyway, Paul. has done a much better job explaining it here (http://www.thenakedscientists.com/forum/index.php?topic=10266.msg126555#msg126555)
