People's vision of global warming is hugely affected by what they see in fiction and what they hear hardliners push in the media. The storylines in several works of fiction that more or less deal with the melting of the ice caps, the level of water more or less rises 7 or 8 miles, deluging most of the continents and even some mountains. The ocean levels should rise only by a few hundred feet. Even more damaging, films so often depict such huge glacier events as happening during a period of days, months or a few years, when in reality it would take a much longer period of time. Climate deniers often use use the Florida Keys and the Isle of Mann examples, which is an argument that because they are still not under the ocean as of the 2020s, or whatever, that shows that the climate change community is wrong.

Pretending that we can somehow avert climate change is only slightly less ridiculous than pretending it doesn't happen.
Doing nothing to mitigate the consequences of the inevitable and foreseeable change, is criminally negligent.

You're comments on this forum seem to be getting darker. What's going on with you?

Nothing. But the rest of the world becomes more stupid and corrupt every day.
Pollyanna or Cassandra? You choose.

Does everyone not accept climate warming, the argument seems to be the cause.

I know it's painful for people to admit it, but if you seriously compare the intelligence of the globe from what it was in the 1960s, especially in the west, you will find that people now are way smarter and informed. With the exception of tots and people with severe learning disabilities, illiteracy is practically nonexistent. This was not the case just a half century ago. People are far more knowledgeable about world events, science, logic, etc.

People are certainly immersed in more data than in the 1960s but I see no evidence of increased intelligence. The idea that vaccines are the work of the Devil would have been considered absurd, even seen through the fug of marijuana that pervaded those wonderful years. Lotteries and online casinos abound, thanks to the limitless stupidity of the public. Would an intelligent electorate have chosen Trump? Are religious wars a sign of intelligence?
This was going the rounds about a year ago: "How do you milk sheep?" "Charge them $1000 for a telephone like the one they already have."

Does everyone not accept climate warming, the argument seems to be the cause.
Everyone accepts that the Earth's climate naturally changes over time. That's why the Earth has been through a succession of Ice Ages, and warm Interglacial periods, for the past 3,000,000 years. And much further back than that. Heck, 700,000,000 years ago, the entire planet was supposedly frozen all over as Snowball Earth. And in the later Carboniferous Period, the planet was a giant hothouse, with huge ferns and 18" dragonflies swarming all over.
All that is part of the natural order of things.
I think what gets people's goat is this: the modern suggestion, pushed in our faces remorselessly by the media, that whenever the climate changes nowadays, even a bit:
IT'S ALL OUR FAULT!
This suggestion is so ludicrous that can you wonder why people don't accept it. And suspect some conspiratorial motive behind it.

Don't forget this is pushed into the face of the proletariat by idealistic monied people's with no real proof of the cause and lots of the "why don't you buy bamboo clothes and drive electric cars?".
