Title: Why is this forum so slow lately?
Post by: PmbPhy on 22/06/2015 07:20:38
This forum used to be quite active in years past but its traffic has slowed down radically. Does anybody have an idea why?

Ive noticed that too. I can go away for three weeks and there's hardly any new topics.

I think that it has a lot to do with the number of crackpots that found this site like that JohnDuffield character, jccc, thebox etc.

Please go away. This forum is for people with a serious interest in science and that's not you. You never take science seriously. You just babble on about nothing all the time and refuse to learn physics.

you mean all the physics is in the published books?

have you any new theories? be glad to learn.

That's not what is meant by leaving.

leaving? isn't the forum is slow as you said?

where do you want me to go?

where to learn the true nature of light? i don't agree with present theory of light, am i the only 1?

do i have to leave cus you hope so?

I thought I saw a post where someone said all forums slow down over the summer. I don't have enough history with this forum to say whether it has changed. Might be interesting to run an analysis of past posts, but not sure I have the time.
Certainly there are some odd ball posts creeping into the mainstream areas, that might put off legit questioners.
No shortage of new theorists though!

You don't contribute to the forum. In fact you make it a worse place to visit will all the nonsense that you post

Anywhere but here.

There's no such thing as "the true nature" of anything in physics. Physics is not able to prove anything and thus it's impossible to establish truth. It only has the power to describe and in terms of those descriptions explain.

Nobody is interested in whether you agree with it or not. The reason you don't agree with it is because you don't understand it. To understand it you have to actually learn quantum mechanics and that's something that you've always refused to learn. So instead you insist on attempting to understand the microscopic world in terms of classical physics when that's demonstrated to be impossible. Since the microscopic world can't be described using classical physics, quantum physics was invented. You refuse to learn quantum physics. If I was wrong then you'd have picked up a book about it a long time ago and made an attempt. And there are books out there for the layman which do a reasonable job at teaching quantum mechanics to the layman. Go read one.

"have to"? I don't know what that means in this context. However I'm 100% certain that every single member here would appreciate it.

If the forum is slow, we need avatars.

Why? I.e. how would having avatars make the forum more active?

I hadn't thought of a logical argument for it, but thinking the option could be taken away as well could make it like there was no risk involved to try.  [8]
