You stated "at some point I will run out of health or wealth and kill myself". I sincerely hope you don't mean this. While I understand and support the idea of assisted dying for those in intractable pain, I believe there is always value in life, regardless of health or wealth status. I personally would miss your contributions, from one grumpy old man to another!

The hallmark of a civilised society is that its members can choose when and how they die.
I would like to live in a civilised society.
We have a problem that current statute law in the UK is defended by immoral savages who insist that everyone who is incapable of killing themselves must suffer
sine die
and die an undignified death when the NHS runs out of patience.
Don't worry about a loss of public grumpiness. My grandchildren call me Grumpy and are being brought up to respect and continue the family tradition. And I have decided to live for another 30 years, just to annoy all the corrupt officials and disgraceful politicians on whose graves I intend to spit, after the slow and painful deaths I have wished upon them.

Suicide amongst the over 50s has come down a long way over the past century thanks to the NHS. Unfortunately the NHS at the moment is enough to make you kill yourself even if you are not terminally ill, that includes the doctors and nurses.
