Title: Safe, friendly alternative to dry ice.
Post by: paul.fr on 10/07/2007 14:20:55
I am looking for a safe alternative to dry ice, it should produce a cool misty/foggy looking effect in a bowl of punch...oooh, and ofcourse be non-toxic. Any suggestions?

Perhaps you could use the fogger I was asking about in another thread?

They sell them at maplin electronics for about a tenner. They are very strange things, I doubt they are food grade, so I would at the very least wash it very well before putting it in some punch you are about to drink.

You could put the fogger in a separate container filled with dyed water or punch, and put that in the center of a large punch bowl. That way the machine itself won't affect the punch that is intended for drinking, although it might look ugly and the gas might still affect the punch.
