Title: Isn't it a beautiful day?
Post by: Geezer on 24/07/2010 20:30:54
The weather here is truly gorgeous at the moment. Nice and cool overnight, and pleasantly warm during the day. Not a cloud in the sky, and very low humidity - almost unlimited visibility.

Mrs G. and I set off with the two terrible terriers for our two mile walk round the block this morning. I was just saying to Mrs G. how delightful it was and how fortunate we were to live in such a paradise, when, without warning, I fell off the bleedin' road!

My left foot had landed on, literally and figuratively, sweet fresh air. I took a major tumble into the ditch, beat up several parts of my body and skinned the extremely handsome Geezer knee on the asphalt (I was wearing shorts so that others could benefit from the view of the Geezer legs at the time).

I seem to remember having some horrific crashes on by bike about fifty years ago, not to mention some spectacular events while playing rugby, but I don't remember feeling quite so beaten up then as I do today after simply falling over.

Why's that then?

I'm not laughing at that image....honestly I am not....  [:D]

Age, for two reasons

1) You did feel that bad at the time, but age is affecting your memory of it.
2) Age is making you infirm on your feet, hence you 'had a fall' instead of falling over.  [:P]

I hope you stop aching soon though  [:o)]

Old age I'm afraid. Slippery slope to the care home. Have a joke to cheer you up.

What a beautiful day missus for putting a cucumber through your neighbours letterbox and shouting "The aliens have landed"

This is from Ken Dodd.

Hee Hee Hee... Half of my class men looking at women doing them!   and half of the half are men earnestly needing and wanting to improve muscle tone and keep their balance in order.. Trying to do exercises that actually help to prevent falls etc... Its a great class for both men and women.

As it was such a nice warm day had you been partaking of the most refreshing beer prior to setting off? I have noticed, from personal experience, that this can induce mishaps of the type you experienced.

I agree that N. America is indeed very pleasant at the moment, which is a great surprise as I am holidaying in the region and I normally have the effect of causing the regrettable climatic change when I visit anywhere. To compensate though the Gods have caused an unpleasant insect or spider to bite me whilst in what I thought was the safe surrondings of a hotel bedroom. It seemed to be relatively non-venomous but nonetheless has become infected and resulted in a visit to a doctor (fee $175) and a course of antibiotics to stop my left arm resembling Popeye's. D'oh!

Alas, no. Had I been several sheets to the wind I would not have minded so much (nor would I have cared!). Not only that, but I would not have sustained any injuries either. It is well known that when people are sufficiently inebriated they develop certain elastic properties that allow them to simply "stoat aff" inelastic surfaces.

$175 for the doc! I thought they were a bit less expensive in Canada. You might have got away with a lot less than that at a US urgent care facility (colloquially, a "Doc in the Box")  (Sorry Chris  [;D])

The weather here is getting rather too good! It's pushing well into the nineties (subtract 32 then multiply by 5 over 9). If it keeps up I may be forced to jump in the lake, which, no doubt, will please a lot of people.
