The Mayan calendar is just that, a calendar. Like our own, it has a beginning and an end. Ours starts with Jan. and ends with Dec. just twelve months long. Just because the Mayan calendar is thousands of years long doesn't suggest anything other than the length of it's duration. All this talk about the end of the world is nothing but hype.

I agree it is not the end. But the Mayans were a smart people. Plus there has been no solid archeological evidence as to why they disappeared when they did. They were at the height and pinnicle of their civilization and then they disappear with nothing left behind excepting their great engineering, mysterious culture, and profound knowledge of math and science. For a people of their time, they may have known as much as we do today in some cases. Much more than the Europeans and Asians of their time. The calender does not predict the end of mankind, it predicts the start of a new era, not necessarily meaning the end of all things in this era. That is one of the biggest misinterpretations of modern times next to some religous misinterpretations.

Maybe the era of true knowledge,
Tomorrow will reveal it's truth. And I'll wager we will have learned very little more on the 22nd than we learned on the 21st!

Ahhhh yes, today is the 22nd of Dec. and we're still here. Go figure?
It's funny but I really don't feel a bit smarter today than I did yesterday.
I'll bet a few of you fellows will enjoy quoting me on that last remark!!!
