Title: Lucifer might be a micro-organism
Post by: J Rahman on 10/10/2009 03:45:26
According to me, every observable phenomenon of nature holds a set of fundamental factors responsible for its existence. I think chance is an unscientific term that has nothing to do with reality. If so, then every psychological assertion of an organism is due to some physiological process running inside the organism. Therefore, if a person is irritable, it might be due to iron-deficiency anaemia, for instance. Got it?...Okay. Now tell me why malicious men are malicious? I mean to say, what is it that causes human mind to get an unusual tendency: malice? Human minds, as we know, are advanced rational thinkers that possess the ability to logically differenciate between true and false; and have a usual tendency towards that which is true. Now, the terrorists, for example, are irrational and thus cannot make a correct decision. They would not agree to any of your arguments since they are conservative (an irrational behaviour). Malice might have turned them irrational or their irrational thoughts might have made them malicious. My question is that, is it some sort of micro-organism causing a psychological illness that prevents the human mind to function properly leading to perverted patterns of behaviour (such as malice)? Is it possible to hypothesize the existence of such pathogens?

Quote
It has been found that the parasite [protozoan Toxoplasma gondii.] has the ability to change the behaviour of its host: infected rats and mice are less fearful of cats—in fact, some of the infected rats seek out cat-urine-marked areas. This effect is advantageous to the parasite, which will be able to proliferate as a cat could eat the infected rat and then reproduce.

Also there is the famous Mr West in England who after a head injury became very evil. A murderer caught in the early nineties I think.

There are criminal insanities, schizoid, psychopathy, sociopathy...

Sometimes illness and bad behaviour run in families. Is it genetic or parasitic? Perhaps a weaker immune system to parasites...

In the middle east a cult existed long ago, which believed in violence, it has a name, I don't recall. It is said to be the root of militant, fundamentalist Islam.

Where does faulty human nature come from? Christians say the blood and flesh and from our ancestry and unclean spirits, science would say DNA, or parasites, or infections, or abuses, poor culture...

In their belief system what they are doing is perfectly logical.

After all who would say no to a hundred horny virgins who are waiting for you to obey all your wishes in the afterlife in 7Th heaven after you die for the Islam. And you can kill some heathens too in the process, it's just the icing on the cake...

If you believe the background story (with Allah, Mohamed, Jihad, 7Th heaven and such) the rest is a logical move. And those things can't be logically denied (it can not be proven either).
Thats why Daniel Dennett sais that religions (at least the big ones) should be thought in school one after another as objectively as possible. This way a child can see that there is nothing more true in any of them. (And thats why catholics say that he is the Satan himself.)

Even 100 virgins won't last that long will they (relatively speaking)!? So what will the "martyr" do with the rest of eternity? And isn't it telling that these individuals view the best reward they could hope for as nothing more than base sex with a bunch of girls they've never met. Or maybe that's the story of their lives and aspirations...

It might be 300 or something :) (It is a mystical number, but I cant recall it.)

Besides they will have the time to get to know eachother. Maybe some of them are really good talking partners too.

And I don't think that this is the only thing that the 7th heaven has to offer, it's just the one that I remember from my studies (my dirty memory).

I studied religion for a year and I found that the principles on which terrorists base their acts are not the principles of Islam. These are but corollaries of the original principles worked out by their 'ulemas'. The corollaries are incorrect, as you see, because the Quran says "...none can grasp the message except men of understanding". Even Mohammad said, "The greatest Jihad (holy war) is the conquest of self". In the battle of Badr, women were allowed to participate equally with men. This shows how Islam gives equal rights to women. But the terrorists are doing the opposite. Burqa, for example, is suggested for women to wear "...so that you are known thus and not molested...[Quran]" but due to circumstances if you cant maintain the suggestion, then "...God is oft-forgiving, most merciful [Quran]" and you can clearly see, they are doing the opposite. It is due to their own benefit and not Islam, that they are terrorists. The meaning of Islam is peace. The things you mention are merely misconceptions or wrong corollaries that has nothing to do with Islam.

"...And you can kill some heathens too in the process, it's just the icing on the cake..."
Sorry sir, that's not true. The Quran says "Let there be no compulsion in religion..." and also says "Abuse not their (ie. heathens') Lord lest they in their ignorance, abuse God". The Quran says "Say (to the unbelievers)...I worship not that which ye worship nor will ye worship that which I worship...To you be your way and to me mine". Please also note this verse where the Quran says "...if ye punish, let your punishment be proportionate to the wrong that has been done to you: but if ye show patience, this is indeed the best...and do thou be patient, for thy patience is but with the help from God..." By now Mr. Pwee, you must have understood what is Islam. Islam never permits to kill anyone mercilessly. Now you must rectify your words and say that "if you believe in the background story, the rest is" an illogical move.
"Daniel Dennett sais that religions (at least the big ones) should be thought in school one after another as objectively as possible. This way a child can see that there is nothing more true in any of them."
Islam has got a better idea. The Quran says "Invite to the way of thy Lord with wisdom and beautiful preaching; and argue with them in ways that are best and most gracious..." The terrorist are doing the opposite. People like Dr. Zakir Naik are following the way of the Quran, which I think is better than that of Dennett. Please visit www.irf.net for logical and scientific explanations of the JudoChristian religions; the arguments therein mocks at the empty heads of most priests.

Sorry if I was misunderstandable, I know that real Islam values life and is against killing people. Most Muslim people are nice.

The terrorists found a variant of Islam that sooths their aggressive/frustrated nature and overconservative worldview. You could say that this religious background is just an excuse to perform aggression, but this is a little more complicated then this.
You say that there must be an illness or a parasite, that infected the minds of these people, but this "illness" is most likely a psychological one and could affect any of us given the right circumstances.
If you are raised in a family or radical group that believes in this aggressive variant unconditionally, you would be a believer of this too. This kind of nurture doesn't just effect the thoughts about religion and God, it affects thinking about (and not thinking about) anything and everything! Everything is saturated with our motivations, a deed is logical or rational if we see the motivation and goals in the background.
If your main goal is to rid the world from heathens and you believe that if you do so you will get a Godly reward in the afterlife, it is nothing but logical to drive a plane to a tower filled with heathens.

So an infectious meme, rather than an infectious biological agent...

After all who would say no to a hundred horny virgins who are waiting for you to obey all your wishes in the afterlife in 7Th heaven after you die for the Islam.

I would say no for these reasons:
Babies are virgins too who obey all your wishes
If they are still virgins when they died, they MUST be ugly
I would rather get laid by someone who knows what she's doing
