Why was an orthopaedic surgeon struck off for giving diabetes advice?
« on: 24/05/2017 16:15:01 »
Why  has   SURGEON  Dr Gary Fettke  of TASMANIA   been banned from  teaching his diabetic patients to go easy on the sugars and carbohydrates in their diet ? He got so worried about all the limbs he had to amputate that he tried to encourage his patients to adopt a more healthy diet. Then he  got banned from doing so, and almost  struck off. Why is this going on ?

Do you have some actual references / published data on this case? It's not really helpful or appropriate to make claims like you have in your post without the supporting information. Please supply it so we can read around the case.

Put it round the other way:
Q]. If a dietitian performed surgery without licence to do so, should they be investigated / disciplined ?.
A]. Yes, even if* the unlicensed treatment was successful.

[* some of his dietary advice, which he was not qualified to dispense, was not correct ]
