Last week BBC Science News, Guardian (https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2019/nov/05/climate-crisis-11000-scientists-warn-of-untold-suffering) and many others published a news story about 11000 scientists supporting new science warning of an imminent climate emergency.
The journalist who published it was recently awarded €100k journalism prize (https://www.biophilia-fbbva.es/en/noticias/the-bbva-foundation-recognizes-bbc-reporter-matt-mcgrath-for-his-extraordinary-capacity-to-communicate-environmental-issues-to-a-global-audience/). Once upon time journos awarded themselves tiny prizes for anti-establishment journalism. Today journos award themselves massive prizes for pro-establishment, fake science journalism. All of it with a green light from UK science establishment such as: The Royal Society, Naked Scientists, Martin Rees, Alice Roberts, Brian Cox, Richard Dawkins, every science journalist, Science Media Centre, ...
As for the news story:
* Few of the 11258 scientists on the list appear to be actual scientists. For example not one of the 300 Canadians (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vs3ZPGLPiss) of the list could be legitimately called a scientist.
* Yet the list included Mickey Mouse, Hogwarts headmaster Professor Dumbledore, and at least one scholar and teacher of rebirth and reincarnation.
* The science article these 11k supported is a ViewPoint in science journal BioScience (https://academic.oup.com/bioscience/advance-article/doi/10.1093/biosci/biz088/5610806).
* The actual list of the of the 'Alliance Of World Scientists (https://www.scientistswarning.org/the-alliance-of-world-scientists/)' vanished for a time. It's back but many fictional characters and the reincarnation scholar/teacher see to have been purged.
As for award winning science journalist Matt McGrath, he's back publishing more fake science climate news (https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-50333627).

Are you saying they aren't Canadians, or aren't scientists?
The list contains no Dumbledore, no Mickey and no Mouse.

What of Antonia Mills? the "expert in reincarnation", who "teaches undergraduate and graduate courses ... on indigenous perspectives on reincarnation and rebirth". Did she quit or was she axed?

I took a quick glance at the reported expertise of many of the signatories on the list found through the link provided by Bored Chemist (thanks!)
Most of them seem pretty relevant to me.
There are the physicists, meteorologists, atmospheric scientists, etc. who can speak to the veracity of the climate change.
There are the marine biologists, ecologists, evolutionary biologists, botanists, etc. who understand the risks climate change poses to existing ecosystems.
There are the experts in environmental policy, risk management, civil engineering, agriculture, forestry, public health, etc. who understand the risks climate change poses to our economy and society.
And the all-knowing, MarkPawelek's credentials are.... what exactly?
