Title: Why does water or rain bring nightcrawlers to the surface?
Post by: Karen W. on 22/11/2007 22:11:18
Well as a child if it did not rain in the summer an me brother wanted to go fishing the

next day we would turn on the sprinklers and run the water all night,in about a 20 ft

perimeter! Then the first thing in the morning, right before light, we would shut the

water off, take flashlights out and pick up all the night crawlers off the surface where

we had watered... There were tons.. Why do they come to the surface after watering or

rain like that??? [;)]

They do not want to drown, seriously. With the soil saturated with water - no oxygen.
