Hi fellow Coffee/Cola/Cocoa/Chocolate guzzlers.
I was just wondering if you can get withdrawal like symptoms from having too much Caffeine. I’ve just finished doing two coursework’s at the last minute, to do so I had about 4 litres of Cola and the strongest Chocolate I could find (70% Cocoa Solids). I was fine for about 12 hours, but now I have a beast of a headache and I feel a fair bit of nausea [xx(] ? If this is because of all the Caffeine does anyone know a good way to get rid of these symptoms, other than obviously staying away from LOTS of Caffeine in the first place? [V]

I reckon it is Matt....though drinking 4 litres of coke and eating 70% strength choccy is enough to make you sick anyway...but I strongly suspect the headache is either a withdrawl symptom or due to too much caffeine !!....lets hope a passing ' caffeine withdrawl ' expert passes......
hope you're feeling better now.

Wow, with the amount of caffeine that you drank it is not surprising that you would feel like you do. If it were me I would drink a lot of quality water, eat only healthy food, and slowly back off on caffeine. I am wondering if you tried stopping caffeine consumption? Forget doing it cold turkey because it can cause the worst headache possible. I drink about 2-3 cups of coffee a day. If I don't drink any all day I usually get a horrible headache. I hope this helps, Cathy

Yeah from looking online, you can indeed get Caffeine withdrawal. You get headaches caused by becoming oversensitive to adenosine (what Caffeine inhibits to keep you awake). Your blood pressure drops causing extra blood to be left in ya noggin causing big headaches. Caffeine is also addictive in the same way cocaine or heroin is addictive, promoting the release of dopamine making you feel good....
Scarily decaf foods are also addictive I haven’t yet figured out how or why… most likely on purpose so Coke don’t lose profits.
Cup 'o Coffee == 90-150mg of Caffeine
Mug of Tea == 30-70mg
Can of Cola == 30-70mg (The Cola I had was like 430mg due to volume)
Pep drugs range from 30mg - 200mg
Milk Chocolate == 3-10mg depending on cocoa solids
Dark Chocolate == 28mg per 1.4oz bar (So I had at least 84mg from this)
Food with Guarana in also contains Caffeine and apparently most pain killers designed for headaches have some in. I imagine this is because lots of pain killing drugs make you drowsy…
About right daily consumption == 250mg
My consumption nearly == 420mg in a short space of time YAY [B)]

Actually i think it's because a lot of headaches probably result from caffeine withdrawal !
Also, the energising effect of the caffeine is very noticeable, so pill manufacturers include it in their preps so that people feel much better and more alert when they take the medicine and therefore declare it a miracle.

I think I'm getting there - I am definitely having fewer withdrawal symptoms ! I have cut my coffee back and I have moved my lunchtime or morning hit to the evening. That seems to mean that I wake up with more caffeine still in circulation and hence am less disabled first thing than I have been !!
It's bizarre because I never used to have problems when I was younger, despite a heavier intake. OAAAAHG, I'm getting old, or something !

YAY, I've completely failed to reduce my intake and just take more Caffeine to get rid of the headaches [:D]. I might try what you've done to see if it helps.
