I'm not asking what happens to our flesh; I want to know if there is an afterlife. Does our conscientiousness survive our death? Or do we simply cease to exist, just like like it was before we existed?

In my “The Fabric of the Soul” book I explore three solutions for God and the Universe. The simple solution is for a single light speed universe. For this case our soul is composed of radiated dot-waves which is the cause of the gravitational field. The world of the dead centers at the center of this Earth. There the Earth God exists. Within the Earth God lies the Gods of man. The Jewish God is one little God. There are many Christian Gods of the Churches and nations.
When you die, you mind still exists in spiritual energy. Your soul survives within the heat of your body. In death your soul loses a spiritual energy source. It could head toward the center of the Earth and your particular spiritual collective. Then you will be absorbed by your God. Individual life after death is very short but you can be remembered and live again in the future by an Earthly reincarnation process or a cosmic reincarnation process to other Earths.
Those who are not absorbed by their Gods will end up in the outer darkness away from the surface of this Earth. There they will freeze and perish quickly. Thus death does not involve any suffering. It is like being lost in a storm in Alaska and freezing to death rapidly. The soul will die until it moves toward the various Gods of man. Until you are absorbed or frozen your spiritual mind will continue to think.
I have to start with I don't know.Having that disclaimer out of the way lets do some speculating.I am not religious and this is not to my understanding a religious site, so lets stay away from all the different superstitions.Science tells us that for the Universe to operate as we observe it operating, then it follows some laws that can't be broken. One of these laws is that all information is conserved. It can not be lost to the Universe. Now we know that all that makes you what you are, (different to me) can theoretically be accounted for as an amount of information. That includes your own personal very complex but finite Electromagnetic pattern. While you live parts of that pattern is continually subject to change. Ageing, learning, etc. These are all changes that a living organism goes through. At the moment of death all changes to the physical "you", stop. Death therefore stops change for the complete assemblage of information that constitutes you. Yes some parts move on and keep changing, like your body decomposing, but that is no longer information that effects the complete structure that represented you.So we come to your question. What happens to the information that represented you?Does it get lost to the Universe? All I know is, Science says this can not be so.That's all I have. As I said at the top. I do not know.Maybe someone else can expand on that, with hopefully logical argument or speculation. Otherwise we will be left with all the superstitious drivel, and honestly that never helps anyone.
What happens when we die? Pointless question because(a) you will find out soon enough, and(b) you can't do anything about it.However you can live in the certainty that nobody has ever come back with a photograph, so everything you have ever been told about it is guesswork at best and cynical lies at worst.
we are not a memory stick.
