Title: Lymph nodes
Post by: granite on 21/10/2005 22:28:45
How significant is it to have several lymph nodes pop up?
3-4 weeks ago I noticed a couple of axillary nodes on both sides, and a little over a week ago I found a node above my right elbow.  Now I think I also feel a couple of nodes around my neck (posterior cervical area).
None of these nodes are particularly big, most are around 1cm give or take a bit, and a couple of the neck ones are very small, pinhead size.  I would say pretty much all of them are fairly hard but moveable.
I feel fine otherwise, and I don't think I have any skin infections.
Does anyone have any idea if this can be serious and if I should get it checked out?
Thanks!

Hello Granite

are you sure they're lymph nodes ? It sounds as though they probably are, but it always pays to keep an open mind.

How old are you ? Are there any other symptoms associated with this bout of lymphadenopathy (sore throat, headaches, weight loss, fever, lethargy) ? Have you had it before ?

Do you have any pets ? Where do you live, and have you travelled anywhere recently ?

Chris

Hi Chris,
I'm not absolutely positive their lymph nodes, I'm just assuming they are.
I'm 24, I don't have any other symptoms, and I've never had anything like this before.  I live in Ontario, Canada, I don't have any pets, and I haven't travelled anywhere at all recently.
Thanks for your first reply!
