Let me tell you' My daughter at about 1 year old sure thought it was playdough as well as lotion and facial makeup! A story for another time.....Karen

Actually, I can well imagine it might be very beneficial to 1 y.o. babies, as it may provide seed bacteria to start to colonise her guts.

Oh gawwwwwd !!...If there were any benefit to it...would it be their own or a member of the family's ?..perhaps the mother ?..
The Pottie would double up as a soup bowl !!
Perchance it may be available as baby-food in jars ?...Banana and **** flavour.......Spaghetti Bolognese and **** !.......veggie Stew and **** !............**** and **** flavour! [:)]

It wasn't clear to me who's faeces Karen was talking about, but yes, as you say, I would imagine the greater benefit to be from the mother's, or other family members (although, thinking about it, I would agree that in the modern world it would seem unlikely that the baby would have access to that – it may well have been different in past centuries).

There may indeed be some isolated communities somewhere in the world where perhaps such a convention is a part of their infants nurturing.
There are some pretty bizarre (in our eyes) practices out there.

Well Let me tell you, It was her Faeces. I better tell you the whole story!
We were living in a very small trailer two bedrooms and she was my first child. It was July and the heat was really upon up us. I had every window open and all the doors trying to cool the little tin box( trailer) down. My baby was miserably hot. We had no air conditioning and no fan at the time that was working , hence the start of my husband and I beginning to tinker around with small appliances ect. Anyway I was finally able to get her to sleep it was about 99 degrees in the trailer. I stripped her down to just her little diaper and laid her on a sheet in her crib. She was finally blissfully asleep! I walked away from her room and slid the sliding door shut leaving about a two or three inch gap so I could look in on her during her nap. She normally napped for about 2 to two and 1/2 hours a day at that point. Every 10 min I would truck pass the door and glance over and make sure she was asleep still. Well long about the 1hr 45 min mark, I passed to go down hall and glanced and kept walking. I was several steps passed the door when something registered that something did not look right so I backed up and glanced again and to my utter horror, I saw that my beautiful precious little angel had taken her diaper off and had decorated her bed her face in her ears eyes hair mouth and every place concievable. Every rung in her beautiful white crib had ben smeared with her loaded diaper! I was horrified! I opened the door and the odor just about knocked me down, It definetly took my breath away! I was in shock and I did not know what to do. She made a move towards her face and I grabbed her hands and held them. I got a towel and wrapped her up and called my mom, as I was young and scared about her injesting such matter! I did not even get out what she had done and my mother started laughing like crazy, I said Mom what...... and she said you can do it dear! Click! She hung up the phone and I was beside myself. I filled the tub and washed her off, then I cleaned the tub and sanitized it again and filled it again and bathed her again as I could still smell it about her beautiful head! It was the most disgusting thing I have ever had to clean up, but I did. I had to bleach and clean everything in her room several times and believe you me I would rather have bought new furniture at that point. So foul and nasty! I look back on it as a fond, but discusting memory and a lesson about how fast a child can get themselves into trouble even when you are being very attentive and watchful! Lesson learned, but really gross!......Karen

definitely agree with you on that one karen...ewwww...i think all kids at that age have played in it...it is a mess...

So I guess you all know Tony?? Well,.....not to embarrass him or anything, but, since HE started this mess, I suppose I am welcome to share regarding the subject...lol
Let me start by saying that I have never seen another kid enjoy the nasty little surprises they leave for themselves in the diaper. When Tony and I lived in Long Beach California, we had a little one bedroom at the time(it was just him and i no need for more space) and we shared a bedroom, I had my bed and he had his crib...The crib was a beautful blonde oak and had the softest lining in it until.....one morning I found him ontop of the dresser(have still no idea how he managed to get up there, or out of his crib for that matter) covered from head to toe with this nasty smelling discolored runny stuff.....OMG!!!I thought looking around for a quick wipey realizing that by just going into the room I had now joined the body painting thing he had going on....I too was covered..the walls were painted, the beds were totaled and the floors carpet was a disaster, Now, how he got it on the ceiling i do not know either, but he managed. He had his diaper shredded and all over the room...looked kinda like when you see those toilet balls on the ceilings of bathrooms sometimes...yeh, well...this was much more....in any case I cleaned it up in about a day after spending a couple hours trying to get it all out of his ears and nose and hair ect...As for the smell....well....I think it smells so bad..one because it has alot to do with what you eat and second it is mental...anything in your mind you find gross and have to endure is going to seem worst than if it did not bother you.......Sorry baby..I just had to share the story...Luv Ya!!!!

Our Little Tony is bright! I am not surprised he could get out of his crib and upon a dresser....the little super ninja! Artist, I had no idea.....lol

[:D]I know just how that feels, and am so glad I was not the only parent of such an artistic child! Am a bit bummed as I never took a picture, I was so busy with cleanup. Not exactly the kind of artwork I want in my office or on my refriderator, you Know![;)].......Karen
