Why am I getting an early-morning vomiting feeling?
« on: 01/03/2009 17:21:46 »
I'm 15, and male. When I wake up in the morning lately, I feel like vomiting (and I actually did once in the car). Generally I just sort of retch and think about something else, and it goes away within a few hours. It seems to subside a bit with food, but it's still present. It gets bad on inhalation (as in, when I'm waiting for the school bus and inhale the winter air, it makes me feel like throwing up).

Does anybody have any idea? This has been going on for maybe a few weeks.

I wouldn't've posted here, but I've had good experiences with this forum, and googling "medical forum" gives me forums on specific topics, not a place for topics like this.

I have that problem on ocassion..I don't know what causes it but anything sweet smelling makes it wosre..like douts..my hubby likes donuts on some sundays.. yuck!!

anyway this only happens to me in the mornings not all the time.

I have found that dry crackers like when I was  naucious and pregnant  it helped relieve it...

Given your a male I believe this will help anyway... as this is a problem I have  still. and I eat a cracker or two with cheese to stop the nausea ..it works.. I am guessing its low blood sugar in my case.... try a few crackers and chees before you start moving around to much... might help! Good luck....If it continues see a doctor... who knows you might have a tummy bug or something!

If symptoms are not present at the weekend then the cause could be school.

Quote
Anxiety can be accompanied by physical effects such as heart palpitations, fatigue, nausea, chest pain, shortness of breath, stomach aches, or headaches. Physically, the body prepares the organism to deal with a threat. Blood pressure and heart rate are increased, sweating is increased, bloodflow to the major muscle groups is increased, and immune and digestive system functions are inhibited (the fight or flight response). External signs of anxiety may include pale skin, sweating, trembling, and pupillary dilation. Someone suffering from anxiety might also experience it as a sense of dread or panic.

I like the cracker theory... mainly because it's really fun to say "cracker theory", but still.. I've found that I find myself saying "I should've eaten something" and the unbidden image of.. crackers (salt crackers, goldfish crackers, etc.) comes to mind. I'll give that a shot.

I don't think I've been stressed because of school for years... Good theory though.

Well.. It couldn't hurt to try.. those dry crackers. It can help the excess stomach acid in the mornings...
It is really important to eat something in the morning to try to keep your blood sugar regulated and to get the energy for your body to function properly....It was always hard for me to eat in the morning as an adult.

Don't mind those two boys... don 1 an C4M lol....

As a child. I always ate cereal, oatmeal and toast or scrambled eggs, toast and orange juice..and I had more energy and felt better over all during the day. It made a difference..!

If I do not eat properly..I get naucious... crackers help until you can eat properly. I sually eat dry crackers then a protein..like cheese.

Keyboard's probably OK, it's the fingers that are all over the place, or not, as the case may be.

LOL I've been doing stuff I shouldn't have, but she's not pregnant, so it's all good. Ironically, some sort of "sympathy pain" was my first idea too.

KarenW: Don't worry about it, I don't mind lewd jokes. I'll try getting into the habit of eating breakfast, but I'll start with crackers; so far, I don't feel like vomiting and it's been 10 minutes

If the 'cracker theory' (yeah, that is fun to say!) doesn't work, you might consdier getting your ears checked. I've been having nausea/dizziness issues in the morning and its apparently a combination of blocked eustacian tubes and high blood pressure.
