WHY do you like science?

Why do you study science? For some people the answer to that question is quite deep. I am curious that's all.
Ill tell you why I study science.
I see science as a bit like magic and the scientist as being sort of like a wizard. My definition of a wizard is someone who is very knowledgeable wise and seeks knowledge, he becomes powerful through his wisdom by bending the elements to his will (By knowing how) and in the process uncovers spiritual truths. To me the scientist is exactly that, someone who seeks knowledge and becomes powerful through knowledge and wisdom, I believe that knowing how the universe works is a great "spiritual" knowledge and seeking to understand the universe is a spiritual quest.
I study science to one day become wise (like a wizard), I am far from being wise but at least I'm trying. Most people don't even try.
science I believe is pure magic, It dose what magic allegedly dose. Levitation is now possible, lightning powers are now possible, even things like mind-reading and invisibility are becoming reality. Through science!
Even history agrees with this idea, ancient alchemists are now modern day chemists, village medicine men are now modern day doctors and ancient astrologers are now astronauts. These sciences of today has it's roots deep in magic. Even some of the greatest scientists in history were practicing occult sciences. even Albert Einstein was a practicing alchemist!
I know it sounds weird but it's the truth. Think of a person from the middle ages being transported in time to a place like the Tokyo strip, I imagine that the first thing he would say is "what sorcery is this!" then freak out.
What's your view on science? yes you, rely below I am curious as to what others see in science.

Why do I do it? To find out how things work (i.e. curiosity), and more often why they don't (i.e. profit - engineers and doctors will pay a lot for the answer!).
Why science? Because not all the answers are in the textbook, guesswork can kill you, and prayer is a waste of breath.
Why do I like it? Because it is humanity's only defence against the dogmas and idiocies that would otherwise make life intolerable.

Science is my connection to the universe. If the only tool you have is a socket, all your problems look like connections.
