how do you know you changed what was going to happen next? was what happened next just going to happen anyway?

Directed dreaming or lucid dreaming is quite a tricky thing to do.
I have only done it a couple of times...and this was by accident when I realised I was conscious of my dream.
There are times when you realise that you are in fact dreaming...it's usually a semi conscious state of neverland between being awake and asleep.
There's tons of info on it out there.
there are ways to condition yourself before you sleep to prepare yourself for lucid dreaming..seek out the info..it's wide and varied http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lucid_dreaming

You can direct them in a fashion and it is cool, but it is difficultand fun..LOL! Neils Link is a good one read it !

I remember that I did this when I was a child (maybe around 10 years old). At one time, I kept having a nightmare, in which I was in a field that caught fire and the fire swept over me. At some point, I finally decided that I would start changing the dream, so that the fire would sweep by and not harm me. Somewhat to my surprise, it actually worked.

THAT IS ALSO A SKILL i DEVELOPED WITH A COUNCILOR AS A CHILD. HAVING A REPETITIVE NIGHTMARE ABOUT ME GRANDFATHER AND DEATH! iT TOOK A LONG TIME TO CHANGE. fUNNY THING THESE DAYS i HAVE HAD TROUBLE WITH THE SAME OLD DREAM, NOT AS SCARY BECAUSE i AM AN ADULT, BUT STILL GIVES ME THE CREEPS.. !

Hmm. I had a dream yesterday, that all my friends hated me and I was left alone. But, there was one girl, who I know in real life, who stuck by me and hugged me. Maybe, I changed my sad story into a happy love one?

ONLY difference in dreams was mine was one guy who stuck beside me..LOL My mental age would probably match Moses! LOL Older then the hills! LOL Wiser then a chicken! LOL
