The six seers of Medjugorje

Dear all,
my name is Matteo Martini, I am new to this forum, I am also a 32-year-old Italian engineer, so a little bit out-of-my-field here but I would like to draw your attention to the work I have done in the last few months, together with Dr. Marco Margnelli, neurophysiologist at the Hospital of Milan, teacher at the Italian Medical Association for the Study of Hypnosis and European School of Hypnotic Psychotherapy - AMISI Milan , President of the Italian Society for the study of States of Consciousness, (SISSC), Pinerolo.
Together, we created the web site newbielink:http://www.aboutmedjugorje.com
[nonactive]
which presents the works of the three medical committees that have studied the six " seers " of Medjugorje, that is, the six boys and girls ( now, men and women ) that, since 1981, claim to see the Holy Lady regularly.
The three committees found out some very interesting facts about physiology of the seers while they are in " ecstasy " and I beg you to have a look to the above site for more detailed information.
Dr. Margnelli and I would like to propose this work to all the neurologists and physiologists browsing this forum because we both think that the facts and the medical evidence that comes from these three works is promising and interesting and since there are few web sites and publications addressing the medical evidence that emerges from the exams performed by the three committees.
Any critic, suggestion about our work and about how to get the work to the attention of the general public is very welcome
Thanks for your attention and I look forward for replies,
Matteo Martini

Well Matteo, I heard that this move was not approved from the Vatican from works of disobedience to the church. Your site was hard to read.
It surely does not help one see if this is good or evil.
It does indicate that there is scientifically discernable evidence to an unseen influence.
One of my old friends Rosary beads turned to gold from all this, I am no longer a Catholic.

I agree with Titanscape, the site is hard to ead. Hard to continually scroll back and forth. The real thing that bothers me about Medjugore is that the messages seem to indicate a preference for the Catholic faith, and what with the recent perversion going on among the priests, it makes it hard to believe. Seems that God would not be showing such preference to that religion at this time.

That was the work of the devil, of course.
It always is.

Dear Ylide, bezoar and Titanscape,
thanks for your feedback about the readability of the site, I will change the page width in order to make it more readable with a 800x600 resolution, at least I hope my English is not so bad.
Back to the point, I do not know if the altered physiology of the seers during ecstasy comes from a " real " apparition of the Holy Lady, I just try to examine scientifically the facts ( for what I can understand about physiology ).
It has been proved ( by dr. Margnelli ) that if you put a metal plate at 45 degrees Celsius on the wrist of the seer during ecstasy for some 40-50 seconds and he/she shows no sign of pain.
I tried to put a metal plate at 40,7 degrees celsius on my wrist and I could not stand it for more than 2 seconds.
Is it possible to explicate this without using a paranormal explanation ?

Matteo,
Your English is fine. No problem with comprehension.
The same above experiments with the metal plate are reproducable with hypnosis. In fact, I had the opportunity to watch a film of an operation where a caesarian section was done without anesthesia -- only hypnosis. The mind is a powerful thing.

Most metaphysical reactions, including religious fervors, enlightenments, and epiphanies are neurological aberrations. Experiments (PET scans) have been done that shows that meditating Buddhist monks who claim to reach a state of bliss have decreased bloodflow the part of the brain associated with the sense of self. Google for sources if you like. I'm not saying people are crazy if they believe in a higher power, just that extreme religious experiences are detectable as changes in neurochemistry.

I was brought up in an evangelical/charismatic background prior to studying a degree in biomedical science and then PhD in Biochemistry. Although I do still believe in some form of God being, and indeed still attend a fairly lively (happy clappy!) church, I think I have become a bit more of an agnostic pragmatist over the last couple years.
I think I agree with the comment that most religious experience is very much based in fairly measurable psychological/physiological phenomena, however am not certain that the ability to explain many so-called religious experiences immediately make these experiences invalid. Although I definately do not think religion is appropriate for ALL people, I do think it suits certain people very well, and is therfore a necessary construct within at least a certain sub-set of the populations self-perception and/or identity.
