Love is just the chemical reaction to propagate the species...
Simple ain't it :)
Do you agree?
What?
-
That's one of it's evolutionary functions, sure. The function of an emotion does not diminish or kill it's beauty or intensity.
I can say red is just the wavelength of light at ~650nm. That doesn't describe how we percieve, understand or feel red.
I disagree that "love is nowhere", if you mean it in the sense that it cannot be found.

I agree with you glovesforfoxes, love is where you find it. All it takes are two people who are willing to trust in it's reality!!

Aha, Chemical but mysterious then?

Mysterious is an understatement.................

Nah, we're just reacting through the stimuli, intelligence, fantasies and our expectations does the rest. Pavlov :)

Nahhhhhh, Love is all there is, nothing more. That is unless you prefer the alternative??????
-
What, you diss behavioristics.
You can't really believe that love makes you soar?
Where are the evidences?
-
Where are the evidences?
In the heart sir. And I would ask you the same question, "Where are your evidences that love does not exit?" But I'm familiar with the usual reply; "You can't prove a negative."
And my answer for that is this: "I don't need proof because all I require already resides within my heart."
-
Nah, I won't fall back on the negatives here. I'm in fact positively sure that we are all neurotransmitted...
It's a little enervating when coming to near electricity but mostly it works :)
And I can see that you take the subject most serious, which is as it should be.
But there are already studies and brainscans done on subjects that have localized where 'love' is situated well, according to those scanning at least :)
There seems also to be some sort of 'three year limit' if I remember right(?) to the activity in that area. Can't, and won't, swear to that though. It all depends, love change shape the longer you live with someone.
But who knows Ethos, I like your idea better than mine here, from a aesthetic perspective.

Interesting my friend, science is almost as beautiful as love. And I must say I approve of your agreeable character, an attribute seldom found within these hallowed halls. And I will reciprocate by surrendering the high probability of my own illusions.

Ethos, we are discussing the mysteries of all times here :)
Undying love, a very nice concept if true.
Perhaps the only thing needed for it is loyalty?
And some sprinkle of honesty of course, towards yourself and your partner.

Very well said my friend. If humanity were truly honest with each other and themselves, love would flourish. It's a shame that those in power are so dishonest. A dishonesty feed by the fear of loosing that power. These politicians choose lies and hate to sustain their positions and store up destruction unto others and themselves. I choose love.....
-
Ahem, perhaps this one should be placed in the 'chat' section instead? Even though it is a 'theory' of sorts it wasn't all that bl**dy serious :)

Is there anyone more than me that can hear the 'thought police' knock on the door, soon in every home?
Loewee on the prairie. (http://www.pbs.org/newshour/updates/science/jan-june09/love_02-13.html)

Ohhhh shoot, just when I was beginning to believe, you had to go and tear down my beautiful fantasy!!!! Rats...........
-
Ah well, we just have to raise ourselves above it, eh, Ethos :)

I'm pulling on these boot straps really hard yor_on but it doesn't seem to be working. Aaauuugggg, wiping sweat away from brow.........
-
Well, don't give up yet.
Love is very much a 'imaginary' concept, and it seems to me that much of our living is done through our imagination. It's us introducing new meanings to SpaceTime. And that's one step further than just copying from nature.

Soooooo very true my friend, where would science be today without the wild imaginations of those like; Copernicus, Galileo, and Einstein? They say that variety is the spice of life, and without imagination, there would be no variety.................Ethos

Is saying "get a room!" still funny? [;D]

Actually, not very funny at all, and frankly, considerably off topic! [::)] [::)] [::)]

I'm very sorry Ethos. Now please, carry on your discussion.. it's getting hot. [;D]

Go outside and stick it in the snow! Considering the cold weather wer're having, you should cool off quite rapidly...................
-
Eh?
What?
'Looking around'
And what sort of room are we referring to here?

I think gloves.... was poking fun at us yor_on and quite awkwardly I must add..................
-
Hmm, he was was he. Well Mr Gloves, let me tell you, there is little room for fun without a room for it.
That should show him..
Eh.
Poking Mr Glove? Control your urges I say Sir, direct them to the proper channel...
That's telling him, right Ethos.
----
Anyway, for those that have had it already?
A happy New Year..
Including those that still are waiting.
And well, Ethos, he was sort of fun :)
After all, it's new years Eve, or at least was...
