Anyway...nice eh ?

Ewe luff them, I luff them, Heinz luffs them !! *and other reputable manufacturers of tomato orientated goods*

Cripes !!...it's taking me ages to actually get to the question tonight isn't it ?!!

What I want to know (finally...sheesh !)...is it true that some fruits/veg do NOT ripen on the vine ?....why's that then ?...what happens if they are not picked then ?.....and is there a difference between the same fruit that is picked then ripens and one that is left attached and ripens ?..

well..is there ?

ewe see...I simply do not know.....yep..honestly..I don't have a clue..

Do Ewe ?

Hugs and shmishes

yes there is a difference in flaor.. you can pick a tomato green and set it up in your window if you think its going to freeze etc.. it ripens the rest of the way but the flavor becomes less flavorful and delishious and Juicy.. they taste different.. there is something way different that is provided on the vine in that last week or two ripening...!

Some companies use some kind of spray stuff to ripen their fruit. I can't remember what it is. My garden ready vine ripened tomatoes are way way different in flavor.. you can physically taste the difference, big time!

If fruit were picked when ripe it would be over-ripe/rotten by the time it was delivered to the store, (e.g. bananas).

Some companies use some kind of spray stuff to ripen their fruit. I can't remember what it is.

Green tomatoes can be ripened with ethylene gas produced by a ripe banana ...

Oranges, and some other citrus too I suspect, are picked before they ripen on the tree and are sprayed with diphenyl to delay ripening. That's probably why the one's picked off their tree where they grow taste a whole lot different than those bought here.
