What did you do for the other 28 seconds?

I assume he's talking about the ambiguity of
a square  10 Km on each side

An area  of ten square kilometers and
an area of 10 kilo(square metres).

Personally, I just multiplied 1000 x 1000 x 10 in my noggin, but since the OP asked the question I figured he would need to look it up and based on the question it might take him 30 seconds +.

The unit is the metre, and kilo is just a multiplier, so if you apply bodmas strictly the answer ought to be 10k(m^2) = 10,000, but I don't know anyone who doesn't read it as 10(km)^2.

So is this (https://www.thenakedscientists.com/forum/index.php?topic=86577.new#new), for that matter.
