Title: Help needed with PGCE interview
Post by: ahatto on 29/02/2008 20:56:46
Hi,

I need to do a presentation next week for my PGCE interview and it needs to be aimed at post GCSE students................ Does anyone have any suggestions? I'd be unbelievably grateful!  I forgot to put, my degree was in Neuroscience and it only has to be 5 minutes.

Thanks.

I don't know what the GCSE syllabus covers these days so I wouldn't know what is post-GCSE.

If it's post GCSE you're aiming at it would, presumably be a particular A level subject. Which one? No one would be asked to present A level away from their specialism.
If you have a specialism then present that.

Don't worry too much, they just want to see that you have presentation skills. Do a nice power point on your topic, make sure the points are clear and concise, put something eyecatching or amusing in the middle and do a conclusion that gives the learning points. Speak clearly and engage everyone in the room by scanning their eyes. Don't stare at one person and get in anyones personal space. The topic depends on what they asked you to do.

Remember if they let Exodus in, they'll let anyone in. They are pretty keen for teachers so you'd have to do something really silly, like show your bum or say you hate children in order not to get a place.

I have some newer ones if you like... i thought the 'older' ones might reflect your age a little better... my mistake. ;-)
