By inhaling them, injecting them, or taking them orally.

I don't think that's quite what you're wondering about, though, so you should probably be more clear in your question.

I really detest the word; "recreational drugs". Maybe they should be called; "deprecational drugs"? Nothing recreational about them.

I think you need to qualify 'stupidity' there; in some contexts, such as drinking and driving, it clearly is a stupid thing to do, but it doesn't apply to all contexts.

There's nothing intrinsically stupid about trying and/or enjoying different viewpoints and unless you've given up tea/coffee, as well as booze, indulgence is just a matter of degree.

If that's your view on them then I suspect that you were misusing them recreationally rather than using them recreationally.
