I am just curios because I was thinking I am right handed but I did notice today that I am predominantly a left sided chewer when it comes to chewing my food. Is there any correlation or studies done on humans in the subject of chewing foods, either right or left side dominance and perhaps any corelation with the whole left hand right hand thing...
I chew GUM predominantly on my RIGHT jaw teeth and the food that is to be ground and swallowed to my LEFT jaw teeth...

I know bout the back teeth for grinding etc front for biting etc.. but basically has there been any studies to link the dominant side to weight of person or any other weird statistics?

Physiology & Medicine / How does a barium swallow work and what is the barium and is it safe?

I am scheduled to check in tomorrow at 1:45 pm and scheduled for procedure at 2 oclock.

I went for a endoscope of upper GI, but they were unable to complete or see anything as there was some sort of block. So Next week will be under a General anesthetic, and they will go in and try to find out why I am having trouble swallowing...

I guess the aneurysm or thyroid or even the Hiatal Hernia could press on esophagus enough to cause difficulty swallowing but it is not constant so it could also be a spasm.. but she wants to take a biopsy of the blockage depending on what it turns out to be.. I am very nervous but I need to understand about the barium swallow and whats in it.. They cannot anesthetize my throat because I am allergic to the spray...?

So would someone explain?

I have to have a total hip replacement as non surgical

measures have neglected to help.I have very severe

arthritis and necrosis in my hips and my weight is not helping.

The Dr tells me to research different methods of replacement

so I can choose.. except he feels most are equally evasive

invasive (Whoops..Thanks Rosy)

Is this true.. ?

I am wanting to get your explanations on the procedures here

without being directed off from this site as my energy and computer

are terribly slow so I can't at this time surf the net without

extreme frustration.. so if you all would be so kind to confine your

information to here on this thread and by your own explanations or cut

and paste and credit the author I would be ever so grateful..



I need to know what to expect! He said I will be down 3 to 6 months

depending on how much weight I can get off before the surgery and how

well I heal... Looks like nursing home for me for a while as I have no

help here. I am still looking for a nurse and seeing if my Medicare will

cover in home nurse for a few months!

Well this morning I was drinking my cappuccino with whipped cream on it.. Like the 

normal routine, I was snuggled back into bed with my lap top table over my lap, enjoying 

the net and sipping my cappuccino.

  AS ALWAYS I GOT SOME CREAM ON MY LIPS SO LICKED THEM WITH MY TONGUE UP OVER ACROSS THE 

TOP AND DOWN BELOW ON MY CHIN, UNDER MY LIP... AS I ENJOYED MY FIRST COUPLE SIPS ROCKY 

MY DOG JUMPS UP ONTO MY BED, ACROSS MY LAP, TURNS, AND PLANTS HIMSELF RATHER ROUGHLY IN 

POSITION TO WHEEZE MY WHIPPED CREAM FROM THE TOP OF THE CUP! HE LOOKED INTENTLY AT THE 

CUP AS I SEARCHED HIS EYES AND MISCHIEVOUS FACE. I ASKED HIM, "DO YOU WANT TO WHEEZE 

THE CREAM..?" LOL. HE COCKED HIS HEAD SIDEWAYS, NEVER REMOVING HIS EYES FROM MY CUP. I 

RAISED THE CUP, HIS EYES AND HEAD, FOLLOWED. I LOWERED THE CUP, HE MOVED HIS HEAD DOWN 

EVER SO SLIGHTLY HIS STARE MORE INTENSE THEN EVER! I ASKED AGAIN, "DO YOU WANT TO WHEEZE 

THE CREAM..?" LOL. HE LOOKED AT ME, KEEPING A FAST HARD LOCK ON MY CUP. I PICKED UP MY 

LEFT ARM, AND SANK MY INDEX FINGER DOWN THROUGH THE CREAM. HE WATCHED INTENTLY HIS

FACE FILLED WITH INTENSE EXCITEMENT.. HIS EYES TWINKLED LIKE A CHILD'S EYES.. I 

MOVED THE FINGER FULL OF WHIPPED CREAM JUST IN FRONT OF HIS NOSE...HE STARED HARD AT MY 

FINGER... I SAID, OKAY, WHEEZE THE CREAM....LOL..AND WITHOUT BATTING AN EYE HIS TONGUE 

WHIZZED FROM HIS MOUTH WRAPPING MY INDEX FINGER IN AN INTENSE SUCKLING ACTION AS HE 

REMOVED EVERY TRACE OF CREAM FROM MY FINGER! NOW, FINGER ALL CLEAN, HE CLEANED HIS LIPS 

AND SNOUT OF THE CREAM. TONGUE OUT OVER TO THE RIGHT, SLIDING IT OUT FURTHER AT THE 

CORNERS AND MOVING UP AND AROUND THE TOP OF HIS NOSE, AND TO THE LEFT, AND BACK IN 

A REPEATED MOTION UNTIL IT WAS CLEAN ... ALL EXCEPT ONE SPOT! HIS GOATEE AREA, 

UNDERNEATH HIS CHIN. 

    AS I WATCHED, I HAD NOTICED SOMETHING ODD. SO I POKED A DIFFERENT FINGER INTO THE 

CREAM AGAIN. WITH THE SMALL AMOUNT ON MY FINGER, I PURPOSELY ADDED IT TO THE GOATEE AREA 

AND NOSE! ONCE AGAIN HE REPEATED THE SAME CLEANING ROUTINE LEAVING THE GOATEE AREA FULL 

OF CREAM.. I HAD REALIZED, THAT HE COULD BEND HIS TONGUE DOWN, TO SWIPE BELOW IS LOWER 

JAW AREA IN THE SAME MANNER AS HE COULD TO CLEANS THE TOP. 

    SO WHY IS IT, THAT HIS TONGUE ONLY CURLS UP, AND WOULD NOT DROP DOWN LIKE I CAN MAKE 

MY TONGUE DO...?

   WHAT IS DIFFERENT ABOUT A DOGS TONGUE, THAT MAKES IT UNABLE TO DO THIS?  

   IS IT JUST MY DOG...? 

   IS HE JUST A WEIRDO DOG OR WHAT!

   IF YOU KNOW THE REASONS WHY, WILL YOU PLEASE ENLIGHTEN ME?

General Science / How do Holographic chips that are worn against the bodywork for pain, sleep etc?

I am supposed to try these new patches tomorrow. They are clear thin holographic chips that are used to aide in pain relief, sleep, and to give you energy. Each one is a separate patch. I am  of course not to use the energy one while sleeping LOL

This is a Homeopathic new item for me to try....

I have never heard of them before.. They are put out by a company called CieAura. There  supposedly has been a lot of scientific studies done with them, so if you all would not mind Kicking down with some information, I would be most appreciative.

As a skeptic.. I wonder how the heck a holographic chip could work for such things?

My son just got a fire call someone out here on my road was just shot by an unknown gunman and he is hiding here somewhere in my tiny neighborhood road.. I have the  one of the two biggest properties... I have locked my doors closed my windows and am in the bedroom with my curtains drawn up tight! Now exactly what am I supposed to do.. I have both my daughters dog and My ex husbands dog in here with me.. they have been growling for 20 minutes.... but I had no idea until my son text-ed me about the situation.... I am supposed to be in Blue lake by eight for Karaoke but maybe not!

ONIONS


         In 1919 when the flu killed 40 million people there was this         Doctor that visited the many farmers to see if he could help them         combat the flu. Many of the farmers and their family had contracted it         and many died.
         
        The doctor came         upon this one farmer and to his surprise, everyone was very healthy.          When the doctor asked what the farmer was doing that was         different the wife replied that she had placed an unpeeled onion in a         dish in the rooms of the home, (probably only two rooms back then).          The doctor couldn't believe it and asked if he could have one of         the onions and place it under the microscope.  She gave  him         one and when he did this, he did find the flu virus in  the onion.          It obviously absorbed the bacteria, therefore, keeping the family        healthy. 
         
         Now, I heard this story from my hairdresser in AZ.           She said that several years ago many of her employees were          coming down with the flu and so were many of her  customers.         The next year she placed several bowls with  onions around in her        shop. To her surprise, none of her staff got sick. It must work..        (And no, she  is not in the onion business.)
       
         The moral of the story is, buy some onions and place them in         bowls around your home. If you work at a desk, place one or two in your         office or under your desk or even on top somewhere.  Try it and         see what  happens.  We did it last year and we never got the         flu. It said the onion would be black         in the morning from the germs...sure enough it happened just like         that...the onion was a mess and I began to feel better.
       
         Another thing I read in the article was that onions and garlic         placed around the room saved many from the black plague years ago. They         have powerful antibacterial, antiseptic properties.

         I have used an onion which has been left in the fridge, and        sometimes I don't use a whole one at one time, so save the other half         for later.Now with this info, I have changed my mind....will buy         smaller onions in the future.I had the wonderful privilege of touring         Mullins Food Products, Makers of mayonnaise.  Mullins is huge, and         is owned by 11 brothers and sisters in the Mullins family.
        Questions about food poisoning came         up, and I wanted to share what I learned from a chemist.
       
         The guy who gave us our tour is named Ed. He's one of the        brothers Ed is a chemistry expert and is involved in developing most of         the sauce formula.  He's even developed sauce formula for         McDonald's.
       
         Keep in mind that Ed is a food chemistry whiz. During the tour,         someone asked if we really needed to worry about mayonnaise. People are         always worried that mayonnaise will spoil. Ed's answer will surprise         you.  Ed said that all commercially- made Mayo is completely safe.
       
         "It doesn't even have to be refrigerated. There’s no         harm in refrigerating it, but it's not really necessary." He         explained that the pH in mayonnaise is set at a point that bacteria        could not survive in that environment. He then talked about the quaint         essential picnic, with the bowl of potato salad sitting on the table         and how everyone blames the mayonnaise when someone gets sick.

        Ed says that when food poisoning is         reported, the first thing the officials look for is when the 'victim'         last ate ONIONS and where those onions came from (in the potato         salad?). Ed says it's not the mayonnaise (as long as it's not homemade         Mayo) that spoils in the outdoors. It's probably the onions, and if not         the onions, it's the POTATOES.

        He explained onions are a huge         magnet for bacteria, especially uncooked onions. You should never plan         to keep a portion of a sliced onion... He says it's not even safe if         you put it in a zip-lock bag and put it in your refrigerator. It's already         contaminated enough just by being cut open and out for a bit, that it         can be a danger to you (and doubly watch out for those onions you put         in your hotdogs at the baseball park!)
       
         Ed says if you take the leftover onion and cook it like crazy        you'll probably be okay, but if you slice that leftover onion and put         on your sandwich, you're asking for trouble. Both the onions and the moist         potato in a potato salad will attract and grow bacteria faster than any         commercial mayonnaise will even begin to break down.

        So, how's that for news? Take it         for what you will. I (the author) am going to be very careful about my         onions from now on. For some reason, I see a lot of credibility coming         from a chemist and a company that produces millions of pounds of         mayonnaise every year.'
       
         Please remember it is dangerous to cut onions and try to use it         to cook the next day, it becomes highly poisonous for even a single         night and creates toxic bacteria which may cause adverse stomach         infections because of excess bile secretions and even food poisoning.

This is not an immediate reaction after about 5 minutes in the hot tub the skin on my lower legs and tops of feet and also the bottom of my feet begin to itch uncontrollably? Its not bad itch its like really pleasurable to scratch it  it kind of itch! LOL Feels really good even on the bottom of my feet.. also the jets on the pads of my feet act as another source of making the itch feel better..LOL..

So how about it you Hot tubers out there what is it about that bubbly hot water that makes ones skin itch..?

I would like to say It stops after leaving the tub.. and being scratched...

I have always enjoyed sewing writing and singing.. to myself anyway.. I like the idea of Scrap booking and have bought all the things to get started but still have not really got very far at all.
I bought a greenhouse I need someone to put together for me.. one of those snazy ones with the cool roof windows etc.. I want to try to green my thumb up in hopes it will be something I can do that will not require too much time on my feet .. I figured I can sit down to plant things in pots so that is my plan! Any volunteer building fellows or gals out there..? Its a kit...a big one..LOL

What little past time do you enjoy? Can you tell me about them? Maybe share some ideas with any that I may have also..?

6.5 broke stuff turned over 1400 Lb pieces of heavy equipment tumbled chimneys burst windows ?

Let me tell you This 6.5 was much worse then the 7.2 and 3 several years ago... This one was more violent less rolling faster but lasted longer... first 7.2 years ago was a jolt then roll like good slow long sex! LOL .......

This one registered 6.5 and it was rough and steady with the after burst of energy just before the orgasm..LOL But this orgasm was quite frightening... had me in tears and shaking from fear and not the usual pleasure one associates with really passionate crazy hot sex! LOL

Wholly crap... I was one scared woman and poor Don_1 and Neily got the an earful in a message I wrote under distress after power loss and yet still having tremors my own and the ground beneath my home!!!!

This one was one bad shaker and lasted for like what seemed like an eternity but was really I think they said 22 or so seconds.. but I feel compelled to tell you mine was still rumbling several minutes later in small aftershocks!  I think we have had a few over 11 of them now since 4:30 pm.... They say there is a high probability of a 5 plus to follow in the next day or so.. if they look at history and it has any relevance..
My power came on moments ago and previous I was on my phone then battery backup on my lap top... I thought me house was surely coming down around my ears....scary like hell!

Dude I am a calm Earthquake gal.. but this one shook me up so bad I couldn't quit crying and trembling then I found myself yelling at my son... My nerves are definitely shot cause I never yell at my family... and I mean NEVER yell!

Hey I have signed up for two dating services and so far I have been bombarded by men who are more like between 20 to thirty years old, and 74 to 85 years old.. seriously... I am 49...Is It out of line for me to want to date someone closer to ten years my younger or no more then ten years my elder?

I am not saying they are not nice or interesting men.. but I feel uncomfortable dating someone that could be my child, and I won't do it! The same thing for someone who could be my father... am I the only women out there that feels that way or am I just way behind in the dating game...?

How do other women feel about this.. or you men?

This question stems from the fact that my daughter has been at the hospital for a couple hours now ...I took blankets, etc.... down earlier as she was really sick.. but her fever spiked up to 102 and rising so I called her father to take her in to the Hospital...I am sick myself and could not take her in.. so I am wondering because The acetaminophen was not working...

I was always told children tolerated higher temperatures then adults, but at what temperature, should one take an adult in to the hospital, when the temperature cannot be controlled with a fever reducer.. acetaminophen etc...?

Also What about an infant ..these days...? I always panicked if it was 102 degrees, and I could not get it down..so, when should a parent or caregiver become more concerned and seek hospital or Doctor help?

Geek Speak / Can I remove The "U" key on my acer note book?

It feels like when your transmission goes and getting into gears feel like you are pushing the stick shift into the mud.. except that this happens when pushing the "u" key down? I think there is a crumb or something under the key...I am guilty of dropping crumbs over my key board.. and never bought a rubber cover for it!

Physiology & Medicine / Can someone give me pro's and cons of "Norco, Morpine and Oxycontin?"

The Norco is what we will use until Tuesday. We are discussing a more around the clock pain med to control my pain level and bring it down within a more tolerable level.
 
I am really scared of the Morphine and the Oxycontin which may be eliminated, as she said I have several existing conditions that could pose problems when the Oxycontin is used... so Tuesday, she will decide on a more effective pain reliever... She suggested the Morphine and said we will need to decide and weigh the pros and cons.. so could you help me weigh them with these medicines?

What are the differences, side effects, addition properties and do's and don'ts ? Help?
