Is it mandatory to hire professional Wikipedia writer?
« on: 15/11/2022 10:07:44 »
I made a friend in university, she runs animal welfare and doing this from few years. She thought of creating Wikipedia page of her brand and products and to create online presences with unique tools and strategies but she is not professional Wikipedia writer because her English is weak. I suggested her to approach Harvey for professional Wikipedia writers, he is in this industry and have experience of writing. Has anyone before worked with him?

Wikipedia also has a lot of volunteers who are cheaper than Harvey.

I understand that there may be authors who write wonderful articles for Wikipedia, who do texts no worse than Harvey, but I unfortunately do not know of such. In college, I use write my assignment when I need to prepare my student assignments. But here a specialist is needed who understands the topic of animal protection and at the same time is a good content manager, perhaps on this forum I will find a recommendation of such a specialist.

Your friend is doing a noble job. I think she will be able to find some professionals to help her create her page. It will be easier.

Wikipedia tries to present factual information (with references), rather than advertising.
A bit like this forum.

You can try ChatGPT, or its alternatives.

Hi.
I have to go along with the sub-text presented by @The Spoon  and @evan_au .
Is this animal welfare activity a charity?   If even a small portion of the income it generates goes to one person then it's not exactly what most of us would consider as a charity.  As such it may not be appropriate to make recommendations or discuss it further on this forum.
Also, is this really an advert for "John Smith  PLC" who has the ability to thoroughly corrupt what Wikipedia was originally intended to do?   That's not something I would like to continue discussing either.
Wikipedia is great when you type  "Laser" because you get articles that describe the nature of a laser.  It would be terrible if it just produces a list of shops selling lasers.
Finally, Wikipedia does not require a professional writer and the notion that English isn't your friends preferred language is almost completely irrelevant.   Wikipedia seems to support hundreds of different languages.   The hope and general aim is that someone with some language skills and time to spare, together with some automated translation software, will translate articles to the different language versions in the fullness of time.

...Written collaboratively by largely anonymous volunteers, anyone with Internet access and in good standing can write and make changes to Wikipedia articles (except in limited cases where editing is restricted to prevent disruption or vandalism). ... It currently has more than sixty million articles in more than 300 languages...

Best Wishes.
