Could There be Two Time Dimensions, one moving forward and the other backwards
« on: 04/12/2009 08:34:30 »
I have my own thoughts on the subject... but its not a new idea. Hawking once proposed the idea, but then later on reflection found it was non-sensical; of which details i do not remember.

But what is it with theories which have an appealing nature like this?

Feynman once proposed that action at a distance could be explained from propagation of both a retarded and advanced wave, this moving backwards through time, at light speed. He did the maths for some very simplistic cases to show that it worked but seemed to get bored with the idea of following it through. I think he made some comment that he did not want to do the work but felt that somebody should. This may be related to your suggestion though does not require another dimension just an allowance that time increments can be negative as well as positive.

Yes, absorber theory... but it does not require a second time dimension.

Ah but you made that point... I really should read the entire thing first. Sorry.
