Title: CHaOS Roadshow Venue: split from What's your kitchen science?
Post by: paul.fr on 03/04/2007 21:51:16
thanks for that, Dave. Just out of curisity, will you be adding any more dates to the chaos tour/roadshow?

We are attempting to finalise the tour's dates fairly soon, if we raise enough money. The plan is to go to Devon, Dorset, bits of Suffolk Gloucester, amongst others.

Do you have anywhere you would want us to go?

well, the scunthorpe venue you visited last year is not too far away from me. Will you be there again? I know for sure that Anastasia would enjoy the experiance...assuming she is with me on the day you may be there.

Hi Paul... due to the unfortunate cancellation of the Gloucester Festival events for this weekend (I hear it's a bit damp over there) CHaOS will now be at the Heckington Village Show this weekend (28th/29th July), if that's within your travelling distance and you don't already have other plans. I shan't be there (I have to move house, sigh!) but Dave may be (tho' he may equally not... TNS stuff is keeping him pretty busy at the moment.
Anyway, if you're interested, the details are at:

Apologies for the fairly gratuitous publicity, but Paul did ask... and I figured other people might just be interested!

Rosy and Dave I cannot come your shows but would like to say that I think this is a wonderful project that you are all envolved with and I am very grateful as a teacher of young children to know that there are dedicated people like yourselves out there trying to give children all over the benefits of your knowledge and guidance learning these things.. I cannot imagine if they had had things like this here when I was a child That I might have fallen in love with science at a much earlier age. Hands on is great learning and actually caters to a larger number of children who are more visually stimulated and moved by actually doing things and using their own participation in the learning process. Thank you so much for doing this for the kids as well as us slow learners like myself who also enjoy the learning here on the site!

wonders if it's worth going then.

Dave, who?

Joking aside, if this is the heckington that has the railway code of HEC and is on the sleaford - skegness line then it's only about 2 hours away from me. If that is the case then both Anastasia and I will pop along for the day.

I'm sorry I'll miss you  :(

It's certainly near Sleaford... the directions page of the show's website is here:

Trains from Skegness, Lincoln and Grantham.

Hope you get there!

Thanks for that, Rosy. Doncaster is on the main eastcoast line, so Grantham is not too far. Then hop over to Heckington. The weather looks good for saturday, so saturday it will be.

Nice Piccy's Anastasia, and Dad! Sounds like a fun, fun day! Tell me more about the hair dryer and the ball? What kind of experiment was it? Why did it hurt your ears?

Sorry about the volume of the electrolysis demo, for some reason it seems to have got louder recently, I built a silencer for it on sunday morning - working on the same principle as a gun silencer, but involving more lemonade bottles.

Dave,
We both thoroughly enjoyed the Roadshow, I would like to thank all of the members for the time they spent with Anastasia. At the xray and hand sections alone, Anastasia was there for over an hour! All of the CHaOS members showed great patience, knowledge and understanding.

A big thanks to all of you.

I will pass on your thanks, sorry I didn't get to talk to you longer, I wanted to find you after fixing the electrolysis model but it took longer than I had anticipated and couldn't find you.
  have fun

feel glad that it wasn't 16 hinges, a large number of U bolts, a couple of bannister uprights and a whole lot of string ;)

Although we do have one member who is fluent in German, mine certainly wouldn't be up to the job....
