Whats the point, there are plenty of decent jobs to do without needing degrees.

I have no degrees and I've done ok........except there may be a career ewe wish to follow where a degree is prerequisite !

...at least with degrees ewe have more choice !

I suppose, but I could work up my way to the level where a  degree would be required without actually doing one, you noe what I mean?

I am thinking whether to scrap uni plans for this year and get work as a trainee or something in the healthcare field.

Lots of people take a year off before they start UNI..Lots do it after ! ....either they travel or they work as a trainee like ewe have said. I sheepose if ewe do work, there is always the 'risk' that ewe'll remain working and never go to Uni !

Well if I do go uni its deffinately this  year, as I dont need to pay the new degree fees.

80 deg. isn't twice as hot as 40 deg.

It's a matter of calories/energy and what you're happy to live with.

It depends on what you wish to do.

I've heard the McDonalds will hire English Majors, but it is not an absolute requirement for the job.

Some fields like engineering absolutely require certifications.  While you can still do some of the work without the certifications, you will be severely limited.

Other fields...  for example IT support, one ends up with a lot of "continuing education" and "on the job experience".  However, those that begin with a college education have a much broader background in the field which may be a benefit of climbing the ladder.

Degrees are fun!

Except during exam week.  Then it's not quite so good.

Study Cat.
It's like a flashlight. It will light up your journey and widen your path. It's a awful bore at times, especially when you're young, but it will pay off. The more you learn the more you know, just remember that the real deal is not the 'certificate' but all those new things and thoughts you get. Like those guys say, it's not the goal, it's the journey that counts.
