Title: Missing members?
Post by: Herman Melville on 22/07/2009 18:47:32
Where's the lovely neilep? Where's the lovely Make It Lady? Where's the lovely Don1? Where's the lovely Variola?

The lovely Karen has put in an appearance but where's everyone else today?

Important note: If your name isn't listed here, it doesn't mean that I don't think you are lovely.

Good. Sorry that the first post did not mention everyone on the forum but it would have made for a very heavy-going list if it did. Also, I am fairly new here and have not got to grips with everyone yet.

Hi Herman, I'm just giving you a hard time.  I'm Carolyn, nice to meet you.  Haven't been around much lately so you wouldn't know who I am....I'm the nicest one on the forum....okay, not as nice as Karen & MIL, but  MUCH nicer than JimBob, that Beaver character and Paul.  I'm even sweeter than Neil, but shhhhh....don't tell him I said that. Nice to meet you and all the others. I probably have spent too much time here over the last few days but that's just because you're all so nice and clever and interesting.

It was a silly thread to start anyway.

I do not spend too much time in this forum.. I learn things every day here and feel it a great place to expand my mind and spend the time I have inside here, rather then being bummed because my life outside here sucks! So I aspire to spend more time here as long as I am learning and enjoying it in the forum! I love all the members.. AND TOPICS ARE VARIED AND INFORMATIVE...so I think Stats are NOT NECESSARILY relative to people spending TOO MUCH TIME unless they speak for themselves.[;)] [:)]

As a matter of fact, I was speaking for myself.  It was simply a light hearted attempt to make Herman feel at home with the amount of time he spent here.  Had I known you would find my post so offensive I would have worded it differently.  My apologies.

The term 'red neck' comes from the union wars in the Kentucky coal fields. The coal miners in support of the union were in the habit of wearing a red handkerchief around their necks to show their solidarity. And BTW, I'm a red neck and proud of it!!!

Yes, I am well aware that is one of many thoughts as to the origin of the term red neck.  I'm sure though, that Paul was not referring to any of these honorable references, as stated in his above post.  As we all know, in modern usage, rednecks are typified as white racists, that have rebel flags flying in their front yard with signs saying "The south will rise again" (though usually misspelled). They drive big pick up trucks, have beer bellies, chew and spit tobacco and marry their cousins and have far too many children and are uneducated.

All I said was that I couldn't believe Paul called me a redneck, which was justified since I am none of the above mentioned definitions of a redneck.  I made no derogatory comments towards rednecks....PAUL DID...so I do find it interesting that you found my post so offensive instead of his.

LOL...Paul....who else are you going to try and get me in trouble with??

I can clearly see how you upset Karen and so many others, and I don't have the time to talk to petty minded southerners. Not only that but I'm sure you don't have the time either between shooting people on your land, in your big truck with antlers on the radiator whilst chewing and spitting out your baccy.

Oh, and best not forget to plan that wedding between your cousins!

I gave up the baccy years ago and thats why I sure have a purty mouth!!!

And as for that wedding with my cousin.....you should see him!  He's hot.  He has brand new store bought teeth!

Sorry, I've been missing again. I've been trapped in a pub in Manchester whilst my son takes part in console combat, an event designed for nerds into old games consoles and programming in machine code. Luckily the Tour de France was on in an upstairs room and the Guiness was excellent.
We also went to a special history of gaming exhibition at the Urbis museum. I haven't been to Manchester since before the grotty bits were blown up by the IRA. The place has really changed and it is turning into a brilliant city. I'm now staying at Mum and Dads and have come onto the forum to escape the soap watching marathon that my parents do most nights.
