Title: Simple solution for complex problems
Post by: elmejor on 19/01/2009 07:24:47
I am becoming sick of hearing of all these complex solutions to combating climate change and pollution.

All complicated schemes tend to fail miserably when looking at cold hard facts. Often times their are factors that were not thought of when the origional scheme was devised.

Example the wood pelet fire place. Was created to deal with waste from the wood industry, only the scheme never counted on how popular it would be. Because of its popularity they had to start growing fuel to keep up with the demand thus competing with food production.

There is ONLY 1 100% SURE WAY SOLUTION to cut our destruction and that is simply reduce consumption. Meaning you tell yourself "NO" to the things you don't need to survive. That includes not having more than one child.

I am a nobody and yet I can do this, why can't you?

If everyone had no more than one child then the human race would become extinct.

That's true - the only sustainable birth rate is 2 children per couple.

Why not let it decline for a few generations? We would cull other species 'for their benefit'.

I completely agree! Ending consumption is a great way and probably the best since it will not happen unless we do it ourselves in our own lives. I doubt that it is considered EASY since it requires such dramatic cuts in your consumption or change of habits. Many people would not survive the reduction of consumption to sustainable levels. I am trying this for quite awhile now.  As much as I can without turning into a social outcast. At work I am considered "radical". Pffff.

I even have collected hundreds of tips, tricks, and advice on how to polluteless and put them on a website dedicated for this purpose alone.  Polluting less, using less, wasting less. Not the one listed in my profile. The other one. The one that is not mentioned here. You will have to ask for it! E-mail me. Or google it.  [;)]
