Given recent events, which is more dangerous: Deep Sea or Space exploration?
I can't decide, both hazardous, can you even compare the two ?
whajafink ?
Side question:
If you had the chance to either go to space and orbit the Earth a few times or visit the bottom of the Mariana Trench, which would it be ?
-
Bottom of the marinara, far less to go wrong, a well engineered craft, simplicity of pressure and material strength. Except with a half baked company with a third rate sub, that is badly maintained, with multiple defects.
-
I'd go for the sea too. There's a much greater chance of seeing real aliens and discovering a whole new ecosystem. But like PC, I'd ask to see the underwriters' certificate for the vessel.
As for the relative danger, there are fewer critical moving parts in a submersible and retrieval is always possible and not inherently hazardous (compared with re-entry and landing, even assuming you can launch and dock a recovery rocket) if the mission is properly planned.

What's gone wrong? no ovine paraphernalia or words, i'm deeply shocked by this turn of events!
-
There are more aeroplanes in the sea than submarines in the sky.
Just sayin'.
In principle, I can build a deep sea vessel.
All I need is a a strong enough box.
Make it intrinsically buoyant and fit a propeller to take it down.
But there's no way I could build a space rocket.
In general "dangerousness" correlates strongly with difficulty.

Why did the Chicken cross the road?
Coz it wanted to get to the Other side.
It couldn't Swim or Fly, hence Died!
But was Wise enuff to Realize...Life is a box full of Dangerous surprise.

Neither!
If i was Smart enuff to reach spacial orbit or the mariana trench, I'd try to act Wise & send probes instead.

Space exploration must be much more dangerous.
Of course we don't know about every danger or possible situation in our oceans, but this exact argument goes a lot further for deep space.
Since space is infinite, there must be planets with water and some with large bodies of water, therefore the danger we have in our deep seas is just one of a myriad of dangers out there in space.

Space exploration is much more dangerous.
Ask any whale.

I was in a terrible rush that day !!

Ah, the windswept look, feet off the ground with excitement, eyes glowing with anticipation as she rushed towards....and then I woke up.

I could add to that, but I think I better not, don't want to be banned.
