Whys' that then ?...why do ewe get apples and pears in different colours but not oranges, lemons and limes ? (US Translation service: "colours" = "colors"...sheesh !!)

It's not quite true that citrus fruits are all the same colour. Limes do come in varying shades of green and also you can get yellow limes. Most limes will turn yellow when fully ripened. Oranges also come in various shades, from the pale to the blood red orange.

The pigmentation is due to the fact they are rich in carotenoids, the richer, the redder. As the name suggests, this is not restricted to citrus fruits, it is also found in carrots and David Dickenson.

Fruits such as apples and pears get their pigmentation from anthocyanins. Although I think this is also present in citrus fruits, the carotenoids in them probably overides the anthocyanin to give the red/yellow pigmentation some sort of dominance.

 A VERY LOVELY PAINTING OF ORANGES AND LIMES....! It would be a lovely kitchen print.

the pairs on the right back side....the brown with green spots is the type of pears I have on my trees.
I don't know the name of the variety! (hey are very good though!

I wonder if its.....oh never mind.. I don't know the answer... so happy guessing...
