Title: If I can shrink myself into a size of Quantum particles what would happen ?
Post by: ScientificBoysClub on 02/03/2009 03:36:16
If I can shrink myself into a size of  Quantum particles what would happen ?

- if it's possible ... Can I apply Quantum theory on my quantum body
- Can I do the Instantaneous Transmission like an electron ..
- can I walk through walls
- can I take a ride on a Quantum particles
- Do I get special abilities !!!
- Can I have a look @ higher Dimensions  [::)] [:P] [:)] [;)]

PLZ DON'T THINK I AM CRAZY POSTING  THIS KIND OF QUESTIONS .. I AM WRITING A SCI-FI STORY ..SO  i NEED HELP  AND AS EINSTEIN SAID imagination is more important than knowledge !!

You wouldn't find any clothes to fit you.

It's pure fantasy, so why speculate?

Isn't that what people do everyday? Speculate? [:)]

Sci-fi story aye? Why didn't you say so earlier [:)]
Is it about an experiment that went wrong and someone got zapped?

Okay, okay, I get it.

Jeez, all I was asking was what your story is about. [::)][::)]

It could never happen. It would mean the particles in your body shrinking correspondingly (if, in fact, they have any size to begin with). The distances the force-carrying bosons have to act over would therefore shrink and their strength would become very different accordingly. Gravity would probanbly become the dominant force at such small distances and you would become a black hole.

The story has already been written many years ago by a scientist  If I remember right it was called "Mr thompson in wonderland" by George Gamow

Let's say that somehow you could shrink yourself this small without adverse affects on your body structure. There are several things off the bat that I can say about your experiences:

1) Since you are now smaller than an atom, your eyes are too small to absorb photons. In essence, you become completely blind to whatever is going on around you. Therefore, you could not "see" higher dimensions.

2) Since you are smaller than oxygen molecules, you will be unable to breathe and will suffocate to death. This problem might be overcome if you also shrank an oxygen tank (and the oxygen atoms it contains) with you.

3) As an object is scaled down, its surface-to-volume ratio will go higher and higher. Because of this, heat loss also occurs more quickly. Although I don't have any calculations with me at the moment, a person smaller than an atom would probably lose heat so quickly that they would die of hypothermia almost immediately. This would occur only due to radiative heat loss, since you would be living in a practical vacuum at those sizes. Hence, you wouldn't lose heat via conduction.

4) You might be able to exist in more than one place at a time. This has been observed with things as large as buckyballs, for example. But is this effect determined by mass or size? If by size alone, then you may be subject to such a principle. If by mass, then you might not. It depends on the effects of being shrunk. Do you retain your same human-level mass when you shrink? If so, you'd be as dense as a black hole. If not, then where does your extra mass go when you shrink?

Pretty much. The mass of any human is far greater than the Planck Mass, so you'd be crushed into a black hole if you were shrunk down that small. He'd somehow have to get rid of some extra mass on the way down.
