So to get to this type of democracy I want, you need a consensus. And you won't get to that without taking a look at yourself first. It's not blame games and revolutions that will change this game. With a 'coup' being the resort for those defending it.
Revolutions are crude tools for a change. They may change your circumstances but they do not change the game. And the way a country change is slow, internally defined. Just take a look at Europe, or USA. And a war, civil or not, will set democracy back for decades. Lifting up the exact traits you wanted gone.
A added problem is our slow acceptance of chaos theory. Cause and effect a simplification coming from the origins of science. From chaos theory you get to climate related tipping cascades. From that you get to the human factor, accelerating it. From that you get to the game protecting the status quo.
Some of us will adapt by dying. We try to stay away from that, one reason why the west draws a line between sending arms and unofficial personnel, and declaring a outright war. And Africa doesn't count. The Middle East does, and there you can find several reasons. Israel, oil and gas, nuclear arms.
