Title: What are Interference Patterns?
Post by: thegers91 on 03/03/2008 20:39:08
I'm finding it hard to understand the interference pattern of waves from two sources

If anyone could help it would be greatly appreciated  [:)]

Take a look at this page - http://vsg.quasihome.com/interfer.htm (http://vsg.quasihome.com/interfer.htm)

Although there is only 1 source on the left, the beam passes through 2 slits which, in effect, makes it 2 sources.

You can play with the settings to see the effect it has on the resulting pattern.

Or you can take a look here - http://www.glenbrook.k12.il.us/GBSSCI/PHYS/Class/light/u12l1a.html (http://www.glenbrook.k12.il.us/GBSSCI/PHYS/Class/light/u12l1a.html) for a detailed explanation.
