whajafink ?

I'm trying to establish nomenclature
Of a Moon with with a Moon in nature
Is it called a moon or a satellite ?
Or a moon with an orbiting dollop of shite ?
lol

Well, the Earth is a "moon" of the Sun, so it seems a moon's moon's a "moon".
-
I guess it depends on where you are counting from. Planets are considered primary satellites of the Sun, which would make moon's of those planets, secondary satellites of the Sun, or "sub-satellites". Satellites of the Moons would be tertiary satellites of the Sun (sub-sub-satellites), or sub-satellites of the planet. I guess sub-moon would be as good a term as any for a natural satellite of a moon.
-
In honour of the sheepish nature of the OP, I would suggest a "Moo-Moon".
OK; wrong creature, but all in the same farm yard.
-
@neilep you always ask the greatest questions!
-
A moon's moon is a rock.
-
Moonlet would work. Then poets could speak of a moonlit moonlet.
-
Or one might be up the proverbial s***y moonlet without a paddle on an unmoonletlit night.
-
I think muon is already taken?
Maybe Muuon?

New to the forum and afraid that a QI style claxton will sound if I give the answer Neil is angling after, and the prize is not enough. So I will just say this.
