How does the problem with one it system cause the world to stop turning? It is a cliche from a hollywood film, how does the world manage to put itself into this position against better judgement? Why also does it need it?

Excessive reliance on computer tech for all things is a recipe for disaster, imho. Then again, don't listen to me, i'm a notorious luddite.

First rule of any business: if you entrust critical processes to a third party, you will lose all your money.
And if the third party is a self-optimising AI system, you have no enforceable redress.

But why do they need this rubbish? How do they put their systems onto this nonsense and why is the update done without checking it for viabity in a quarantine state? why is it needed? why update anything? Would business stop working without it? Is there no other way? What did we do before? How?
It just seems unbelievable that it is needed, planes cannot take off because a computer is having a wobble. I have known business computer systems, updated rarely and only if necesarry, run concurrently to check functionality.
If it ain't broke dont fix it. One thing we can be sure of is that computer salesmen will be able to sell us something to fix the issue.

As far as I know it was a security update and these things are needed to stay ahead of malware.
