Hi.

This is the only phase diagram I found:

Under the temperatures and pressures shown for the yellow section, it should be liquid.

Another property of liquid carbon is that it will glow: At a temperature of around 5000K, it will give off white light.

You need to ensure that carbon is not exposed to oxygen as you heat it, as it will no longer be carbon...
