Does my dog realize he was dreaming?

Like most dogs, my Cairn definitely seems to dream. He seems to be chasing something in his dreams. His legs start to twitch as if he is running, and he even makes makes little yips as if he's barking.

Do you think he realizes he was dreaming when he wakes up, or it it just an alternative reality as far as he's concerned?

he realizes its a dream otherwise he'd look around for the discontinued scenario?
