What is the one truly romantic thing either you or tour partner has ever done? This is, of course, a pre-Valentines day thread. I will let you go first and follow with my tale of true love. Violins please, roses for the ladies and twinkles in the eye for the men.

I think the most romantic thing I've ever done was asking her name before we went to bed [:D]

It was my wife's birthday (who was at the time my girlfriend) and I took her on a surprise day-trip to Paris on the day of her birthday. We had lunch at a posh restaurant, and then we went up the Eiffel Tower where I proposed to her on bended knees.
And all for under a pound, you know.

OK, my hubby and I lived in Japan for a year before we got married. He took me on a trip on the "Romance Car" which is a train with seats that face the view of the coast. We then took a short bus ride to some hot spas in caves. After that we went on another train and at our destination we took a taxi. If I asked where we were going my husband replied "Scandinavia." Eventually we reached a bay with a ship moored to one side. It was a floating hotel called Scandinavia. It was an old cruise ship, all dark wood and brass. We had a beautiful cabin and at our evening meal he proposed to me. How could I refuse.

My husband isn't very romantic really, but he does surprise me on occasions. True to the form of this forum he proposed at the science museum in San Francisco, where he bellowed the question down the echo tube, which runs the entire length of the building! This was after wooing me with an outstanding performance of the star trek theme tune on the theramin.
