Dearest Peeps Of Academic Bravado and Kudos Awe,
As a sheepy I of course know...well...sod all really about Black Holes.....I do know two really important things about them though....They are black and they are 'holey' !

Nice eh ? Planning to make some more next Tuesday so that I can having a few matching sets.
It is reported by klevur peeps that the inside of a black hole is infinitely dense !..why's that then ?...why does it have to be infinitely dense ?..and does it need to be infinitely dense for light to not escape it ? could it not just be really really really really dense ?
If ewe can help me with some answer fun then this will give me knoweldge joy

It doesn't have to be infinitely dense for its escape velocity to exceed that of light speed; it just has to be dense enough so that all of its mass is within it's own Schwarzchild radius. Given that quantum theory doesn't like infinities, I suspect real black holes aren't infinitely dense.

Thank you so much Supercyptid for clearing that up. I am sure I have read that a black holes' center is infinitely dense, I appreciate your clarity.

I doubt any matter is left inside a black hole center. I'm sure there may be an awful lot of energy though.

The formation of an event horizon requires a certain level of density. This is when the black hole is born.
Inside the event horizon (it is postulated) matter gets compressed. When there are no forces to resist the gravimetric compression the center of the black hole gets smaller and smaller. (The center, not the whole region inside the event horizon). It becomes a point and forms a singularity. As it is a point it has no volume, yet it has some finite large mass, therefore its density is infinite.
